Sometimes, how we would act in a situation is too much or too little for what the character requires. You have to change how you play your characters actions, thoughts, etc. to get them to how the character would act in a situation. Softer, louder, higher pitched, etc.

Especially in comedy, we have to make sure reversals are strong. Why? So the audience knows there’s a change in thought. The change in thought could show what your character cares about and/or has an opinion about.

In Medias Res- "Into the middle of things.” A scene always starts in the middle. That's why you have to have a moment before or a few moments before even, so that you come into the scene alive and not without emotion/POV.

Physicality—
In your auditions, you have to create the environment you’re in. A great way for casting to see that you know who and where you are is having something for you to do while the scene is happening between you and your scene partner(s).
