The Duke took a shuddering breath, Victoria’s comforting touch was nearly enough to let it all spill out. Every tear and every shout.

@Tori__HP Alexander looked up at her through bleary eyes, red from lack of sleep and unshed emotion. His face was drawn looking so much older than he was but also somehow younger, lost dazed and confused.

“What if I cannot find my way back?” Broad shoulders slumped even further.

@Tori__HP Brows knitted together as he finally let his gaze take in her expression, colored with sympathy and concern no longer the indifference or disdain she’d regarded him with for years. A breath caught in his throat at the softness of her question and it begged for honesty.

“You’re here,” he repeated again, taking her hand in his, against all protocol or sense of decorum. It was madness, delirium, a dream.

@Tori__HP Alexander, finally, let the doors shut behind him and took a step into the room closer the warmth of an embraced he’d long for even if only in a dream.

“You’re here,” he rasped, reaching a hand forward as if to take hers in his.

“Tori—“ he breathed, arms stilling holding large doors open, and voice ragged from lack of use. “Tori,” he repeated as if saying her name would keep her here forever.

@Tori__HP Alexander pressed into the parlor, sunlight streaming into the hall and greeting his eyes for what could have been the first time and there she was— beautiful, angelic, and everything. It was a dream because all spite, anger, and irritation was absent from him.
