JUST THE FACTS:
Alberta has 48 First Nations receiving extraordinary levels of support.
Participating bands have taken in over $2 billion from the FNDF since 2006 alone, backed by part of 24-30billion annually more in federal transfers for governance, education, health, and housing, plus tax exemptions on reserve income and purchases, Non-Insured Health Benefits, and dedicated schooling and housing programs.
With resources of this scale flowing through band councils, these communities should be among the most prosperous and well-served in the entire province.
With modern housing without crowding, strong educational outcomes, solid employment, and real economic opportunity.
Instead, the results are a damning indictment of failure.
On-reserve housing remains badly overcrowded for over a third of residents.
Poverty and low-income rates stay dramatically higher than the provincial average.
Employment and median incomes for on-reserve Status First Nations lag significantly behind off-reserve Indigenous people and other Albertans.
The Community Well-Being gap has narrowed only modestly despite federal Indigenous spending nearly tripling in a decade.
This is not acceptable.
After decades of escalating transfers and special benefits, the persistent shortfalls point directly to poor governance, lack of accountability, and broken incentives at the band council level.
Chiefs and councils have too often failed to convert public money into tangible progress for their people.
Independent audits are essential, not optional.
The status quo has failed the very communities it claims to serve.
These Chiefs need to be Audited
@MuhlbeierRobert Well here you go.
So you want to contribute nothing and expect the tax payer to give you everything?
You want to lie and extort money for your gain regarding residential school graves?
You want to pretend the land is so sacred but it for sake for the right price
@ctvedmonton Lefties can’t handle the truth.
Rent-a-chiefs are all for sale if the price is right, while the general population on a reservation suffers.
Imagine if an oil and gas company put them on the payroll to promote pipeline
Pipelines for everyone!
@welos_qay@BertaProudDad@papajeff71 I am laughing at rent-a-chiefs. They are criminals. That are all for sale
I feel bad for the ‘average Joes’.
FN would be better off in an independent Alberta.
@MorganLaidler ….but is he wrong?
Just because you disagree with him, dislike him, think he is an ass is completely irrelevant!
Is he wrong?
Drive through a res, tell me what you see. Nah that takes effort. You wound rather just call someone an asshole.
So typical.
@Creecepticon@BertaProudDad@papajeff71 Ever stop and think that FN lives could be better in an independent Alberta?
I realize change is difficult but do you really think Ottawa has your best interests in mind?
My humble opinion: Ottawa doesn’t care.
@Creecepticon@BertaProudDad@papajeff71 I’m actually on your side. But chiefs are abusing the system and I think the general population agrees with that statement
