Iranian prosecutors opened a criminal case against the theater company behind "Tehran Paris Tehran" after an actress rested her head on a male co-actor's chest, violating rules against unrelated men and women touching in public.

The incident follows an appeals court upholding 74-lash sentences plus activity and travel bans for singer Parastoo Ahmadi and her team over a 2024 hijabless livestreamed concert.

Iranian singer Parastoo Ahmadi has been sentenced to 74 lashes for performing without a hijab at a concert in 2024.

Women in Iran are heavily restricted when it comes to singing and performance.
Parastoo set up an “imaginary” concert as a protest against these restrictions and then shared her performance online.
Eight others, including musicians, have received the same sentence.

They have been accused of offending public decency through the production and publication of “vulgar and immoral content” online.
