Wishing Mike Farr an incredible first Big Creek trip of the season with guests today. Wilderness First Aid certified, ORCKA instructor, and one of the most graceful, technically gifted paddlers I know. Big Creek is in very good hands. Safe waters and strong strokes.

A 20-year-old hunting companion just got a second lease on life. This well-loved canoe arrived with fractured gunwales, missing decks, and a yoke and seats that had seen much better days.
Using fresh parts from Nova Craft Canoe, this boat underwent a complete overhaul.
Finding a moment of stillness in a busy world. Whether you're spending today on the water or simply taking a deep breath in the fresh air, we hope your Friday is filled with peace, reflection, and the quiet promise of renewal.
Enjoy the long weekend.

A birthday gift to myself. I asked Spirit Tree Paddle Company to create a replica of my old, weathered river paddle, and the result is stunning. I can't wait to get this curly cherry beauty on the water.
Peterborough, we’re coming for you! 🛶🎣

Last week I wrote a blog post about the spring bird migration, "The Soundtrack of Spring: Welcoming the Birds Back to the Grand".
One species I hadn't considered in that article was the swan.

It was great to get out and paddle Big Creek with Mike Farr yesterday. The water was up 3 or 4 feet, flooding forests and farmland. Look for Mike to be guiding our Big Creek trips this season.
If you see a boat rack floating toward Lake Erie, let it know it’s late for work.
The Nith is rising and the phone is ringing! We know the whitewater is tempting right now, but it’s still a bit too early.
Current water temperatures aren't safe for commercial trips quite yet. We're prioritizing safety over the swell for now. Stay tuned for opening dates! 🌊
After a long, quiet winter locked under the ice and snow, there is no greater feeling of joy and relief than stepping outside in Southwestern Ontario and finally hearing the merry chirping of birds returning to the trees.

False Spring. It’s that tricky time of year in Ontario. We get a tease of warmer weather, the sun feels a little stronger, and suddenly the collective mind shifts toward summer. We want to get out there but the ice jams around the bend are not to be trifled with. (link in bio).
And the winner of our Toronto Outdoor Adventure Show giveaway is... 🥁 Congrats Ece Aydin! 🎉 You've won a Guided Paddling Adventure for Two!
Didn't win? You can still get on the river! Use code GRAND15 for 15% OFF any 2026 booking. 🛶

The Nith looks small from above, but the boat you choose changes everything. After many years, I know the fit matters.
🛶 Canoe: Roomy & classic.
🚤 Kayak: Fast & stable.
🚣 Solo: My personal office.
We match the craft to your goal.
