In 1847, German physicist Hermann von Helmholtz formalized the 1st Law of Thermodynamics mathematically, establishing it as a universal principle.
Matter cannot be created, or destroyed.
This law to me has always echoed the unique, often divisive, doctrine of Latter-Day Saint theology that man was in the beginning with God, and that intelligence, as well as matter, are eternal elements of the universe.
I noticed studying this evening that the revelation in Doctrine & Covenants 93 was given to Joseph Smith from our Lord Jesus Christ in 1833, 14 years prior to the formalization of the first law of thermodynamics.
I would say that is prophetic.
What’s better than a rare Super Delta formation featuring the Thunderbirds and the @USNavy Blue Angels over Washington, D.C.?

Blue bags up.
Japan 2, Netherlands 2 — an absolute thriller in Arlington. And then the real show started.
The Japanese end pulls out thousands of bright blue bags. First they wave them like flags, bouncing and chanting until the whole section is one giant wall of blue. Then — same bags, new mission. They fan out across the stands and scoop up every bottle, wrapper and cup till the seats look brand new.
And who's right in the middle of it, grinning with a bag in his hand? Jameis Winston. Giants QB. Heisman winner. Out there cleaning up with the Samurai Blue like it's the best gig of his summer.
No chore. No lecture. Just a party that cleans up after itself.
Best fans on the planet. 🇯🇵💙
The American flag has been redesigned 27 times since 1777.
The first flag law, passed June 14, 1777 set 13 stars and 13 alternating red & white stripes. An 1818 law locked the stripes at 13 and shifted all future changes to the star field. #flagday 🇺🇸
"In my opinion, the greatest game ever pitched was between the San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Braves on July 2, 1963.
Forty-two-year-old Warren Spahn and 25-year-old Juan Marichal each went 16 innings and the game ended 1-0 on a home run by Willie Mays.
Each pitcher threw over 200 pitches.
Spahn threw 201.
Marichal threw 227.
There were seven future Hall of Fame players in that game, including Spahn and Marichal.
We will never see that again because the game won’t allow it.
But both guys were prepared to go as long as it took.
And this game was not a fluke, both pitchers won 20 games that season.
For Spahn, it was his 13th 20-win season and for Marichal, it was his first of 6.
My highest pitch count was 232 in a game against the Red Sox in 1974.
I pitched 12 innings, struck out 19, walked 10, and had a no decision.
My counter-part, Luis Tiant threw 180 pitches in 14 1/3 innings and took the loss 4-3.
We were on a 4-man rotation and pitched on 3 day’s rest.
I had 26 complete games in 1973 and 1974 and didn’t even lead the league.
Gaylord Perry had 29 in 1973 and Ferguson Jenkins had 29 in 1974."

The reason anyone gets insanely rich is almost always because of the stock market. It certainly how @elonmusk did.
And the reason they get rich from the stock market, is because 150m Americans decided they wanted to own shares of stocks directly, or through their retirement plans, or through other approaches as a way of building their net worth and trying to create a better life for themselves.
One Hundred Fifty Million Americans. About 60% of adults.
Effectively believing that @elonmusk and many billionaires could make them wealthier and help them achieve a better life.
If you want @elonmusk , and most billionaires to no longer be that rich, convince those 150m to sell their stocks, funds, ETFs whatever.
Of course you would wipe out the net-worth of most of those people, and everyone else’s savings, as the markets crashed and brought down the economy and created the worst depression we have ever seen.
Alternatively
There are ways to improve healthcare access and eventually make it available to all.
To start -
If you want @elonmusk and all billionaires to improve healthcare for everyone , ask them to stop doing business with the enormous healthcare conglomerates and to work directly with transparently priced care providers.
It’s the behemoth HC conglomerates that make HC so bad for so many. (Check my timeline for more detail)
Removing them would push the cost of healthcare down for everyone. Their corporate decisions impact our healthcare cost and availability.
Of course if they do that, not only would our HC costs go down , and the quality of care for their employees and the entire country go up
But
They would see their corporate cash flow increase dramatically and we would have more millionaires, billionaires and maybe even another trillionaire when that cash flow moved from the big health care conglomerates to their bottom line, so would the net worth of the 150 million American adults that own public stocks
Capitalism is better than socialism because 150m Americans can influence exactly what happens in this country.
Religious freedom is the cornerstone of peace in a world with many competing philosophies.
We were privileged to represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Canterbury Medal Gala hosted by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania—a fitting venue for celebrating religious liberty. I was honored to offer the invocation at this event.
Moral agency, the ability to choose right from wrong and to act for ourselves, is essential to God’s plan of salvation. Religious freedom ensures that people can exercise their agency in matters of faith.
We are grateful to be associated with so many wonderful people of faith who we stand with to advocate for religious freedom.

HEROES IN ACTION- Newly released body camera video shows the dramatic rescue efforts during last weekend's apartment fire in St. George.
Officers can be seen kicking in doors, searching units and helping residents escape as flames spread through the building. At one point, officers used ladders to rescue people trapped on balconies while loud bangs echoed as part of the roof began to collapse.
St. George police say eight officers were hospitalized for treatment of smoke inhalation after the rescue operation.

A major piece of America's return to the moon has officially left Utah and arrived at Kennedy Space Center.
This week, the final eight solid rocket booster motor segments for NASA's Artemis III mission completed their cross-country journey from Northrop Grumman's facility in Corinne to Florida. The shipment marks a significant milestone for the mission that aims to return astronauts to the lunar surface for the first time since the Apollo era.
@northropgrumman partnered with Union Pacific for the delivery and a celebration tied to America's upcoming 250th birthday.
For Mark Pond, a Utah State University graduate who has spent decades working on America's space programs, the moment was especially meaningful.
