Calling out the tactic divide and rule of family members to rise against each other as unacceptable. Adding that older people raised today's younger generations for whom they care deeply. No reminders required.
Sandie Peggie’s hearing against RCN has provided a “stark case study of the failure of unions to support female members who are discriminated against by their employers simply for demanding their sex-based rights.” @HJoyceGender in @thetimes

@johnredwood John Redwood: Why does Labour have it in for pensioners?
Keir Starmer’s attack on the winter fuel allowance was a mean policy hurting people on low incomes.
There are many better ways of cutting govt spending than going after the triple lock.

Daily Telegraph today publishes my article setting out the growing surplus in the National Insurance Fund which pays the triple lock pension. Do opponents of triple lock want to raid the fund for other spending, or do they want to abolish it?
Here's the answer @johnredwood#NIF raided to pay-off National Debt.
@hmtreasury withdrew from a Tripartite Agreement ending its contribution to #NIF over a 24 year period costing £271bn-£400bn according to @davidhencke and Paul Lewis #BBC MONEY BOX LIVE

Before you award even more money to the poorest pensioners aka those on PC. You need to realise they are no longer the poorest those just 5Op to a few £s above the PC cut off are. Unlike PC claimants they pay for everything.
This suspended Labour MP still retains all the advantages of being a working MP despite the serious police investigation which started just months after his election. Why? And when can we expect a byelection in North East Somerset? https://t.co/LCCoKbSFxh
@johnmcdonnellMP Well said John our fight for a decent pension benefits the younger generation we all get old one day .
Wake up people and see that you are being manipulated by the governments .
@johnmcdonnellMP I still struggle with the idea that those with just the state pension are on half the national living wage, why are we accepting pensioner poverty at such a grand scale?
@johnmcdonnellMP Agreed, John. But we cannot talk about fairness while ignoring #50sWomen who paid in for decades, only to have their retirement delayed with inadequate notice. The Triple Lock is protection, not justice. It's time for Government to stop resisting and enter #CEDAWinLAW mediation.
There needs to be a greater understanding of the triple lock. The reason many of us supported its introduction was that it began to redress the loss of pension caused by Thatcher breaking the link between pensions and earnings. Despite the triple lock being in force for a decade the response I received to a Parliamentary question some months ago confirmed pensioners are still £50 a week worse off. We spend 5.7% of GDP on the pension compared with 10% in Germany, France and Spain, with 15% in Italy. The Triple Lock enables us to bring our pensions into line with European levels especially needed at a time when final salary pension schemes are increasingly being phased out. The false argument about inter generational fairness fails to recognise that the fight for pensions now protects the living standards of young people in the future and that immediate support for younger people should be secured by the fair taxation of wealth. Let’s not let opportunistic politicians and commentators divide young from old in this way.
.@johnmcdonnellMP: ".. Thatcher broken the link between pensions & earnings.. pensions are still £50 a week less.. than if the link with earnings had been maintained.. we should maintain the triple lock until we get the pension level back up to what it should be.."
