@franauerbach@HalfwayPost Granted that depression is still coming, all we've done is push it further down the timeline. When it does hit, it will be nasty. Unfortunately, it is necessary at this point. Hopefully next time better decisions are made, that arent based on fear.
@franauerbach@HalfwayPost Undoing inflation means a recession (at this point it will be a depression). Had trump supported raising interest rates and borrowing costs, inflation would indeed have gone down. However, we'd be in the midst of a depression, something trump would also be blamed for.
@franauerbach@HalfwayPost You can't print tens of trillions of dollars, inject it into the market, and expect things to work themselves out in a couple years. That decision (or what we now know was a mistake) to shut down the economy was made far too lightly.
@franauerbach@HalfwayPost Trump is not responsible for the drastic increase in inflation. He hasn't helped lowering it, that much is true, but no president could have managed that. The inflation we're experiencing is a direct effect of our own actions during covid.
@bobhawk08@Tcd450@lluctta6@FoxNews You may not agree with his methods for dealing with these issues, but many dont agree with how obama bailed out wall street, bidens infrastructure bill, and etc.
@bobhawk08@Tcd450@lluctta6@FoxNews Trumps an asshole, but everything hes done has been justifiable. Americans wanted to secure the border and Iran was going to need to be dealt with. Same goes for cuba and venezuela due to possible china/russian weapons staging. Fed govt is unsustainable and needs budget cuts.
@bobhawk08@Tcd450@lluctta6@FoxNews Biden deserves prison, not respect. His withdrawal of troops from afghanistan was so ill planned he undid a decade of work, got dozens of marines killed, and caused tens of thousands of Afghani deaths. All of which was unavoidable.
@BachelorGriffin@Tcd450@FoxNews So literally every politician falls under those criteria. Why do you think members of congress have exponentially higher net worths when they leave office? If its upsetting then it should be, but the selective outrage is suspect. If you dont like him, just say that.
@JasonPugh00777@Tcd450@FoxNews Why are you so emotional about it, nothing hes done has been particularly out of the norm. Weve been involved in endless conflicts during every presidency since the end of WW2. Every politicians enriched themselves. Even Bernie sanders has taken millions from big pharma.
@libbyliberalnyc@paolomossetti Brother, im afraid your in too deep with the conspiracy theories. Its a common phenomenon, clinging to conspiracy theories to explain the suffering. Unfortunately, in truth its the result of human selfishness and greed. Billions of people acting in self-interest. Much scarier.
@harmlesstree2@paolomossetti Of course even with britian, lets not pretend that the Arabic world didnt have ambitions to conquer parts or all of Europe for the previous couple thousand years. Dont pick fights you cant win. Thats been a hard lesson not learned in that part of the world.
@harmlesstree2@paolomossetti As far as britains colonial ambitions, it has shit to do with Israel or any of the Jewish people there. Had the entire arabic world not tried to obliterate Israel the moment it was created (they somehow lost horribly), the palestinians would have their own nation now.
@harmlesstree2@paolomossetti Ohh??? Seems you have selective memory. Were they "minding their own business" when Hajj Amin al-Husseini allied with Hitler during WW2. You know, the genocidal maniac who murdered millions of disabled ppl, russians, and Jewish ppl?? No, choose the wrong side, you pay the price.
@scruffyballs124@FoxNews If they're paying no income taxes, then use the tarrif revenue to eliminate the gas tax (disproportionely affects lower imcome households), broadband/cell tax, and etc. My point is, if we can get another country to indirectly take on tax burden, than why wouldnt we.
@scruffyballs124@FoxNews Bottom 25% earners (Too lazy to look up all the real figures). In that scenario, they may be paying 30 cents of every dollar of tarrif revenue, but they're keeping that entire $1 of income tax. Does that make sense? If an income tax is unavoidable, then i agree with tiered taxes.
@scruffyballs124@FoxNews In your scenario they are paying more. We have just agreed that tarrifs dollar for dollar arent passed on to the consumer. I believe the tarrifs collected amounted to somewhere between $200-300 billion for one FQ. That would cover income taxes collected for at least the (con'td)
@shelbypup252@paolomossetti Yet that in essence would be the same thing. In fact, it would be factually correct and no one would argue that it isnt a violation of basic human rights.
