Did you know that Mr Dressup got his start on the CBC show “Misterogers” in the 1960s? Prior to Fred Rogers’ PBS show “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood”, which started in 1968 in the US, Fred Rogers lived in Canada developing the show. He hired a young puppeteer named Ernie Coombs who would later be known as Mr Dressup. Note the Canadian spelling of “neighbourhood” on this train. Many of the puppets and sets used in the long running US show were actually made in Toronto during this early/mid 1960s era. credit: cbc
