Blackouts have been reported across several parishes in Jamaica, affecting electricity service in multiple areas.
Efforts to contact the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) for information on the cause of the outages and estimated restoration times have so far been futile. The JPS is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.

One Maxi taxi driver who identified himself as John says he will continue to work today despite the strike because he still has bills to pay. He says he was bullied on the road when he tried to ply his maxi for hire earlier today.
