Grape DAO, where communities donโt just talk โdecentralizationโโฆ we live it!
From governance to real-world events, and rewards: weโve built the Ultimate DAO Toolkit. Hereโs how it works ๐งต
Grape DAO call (Sunday 2nd August)
we opened up with some crypto news and safety featuring the latest ledger wallet hack for bitcoins and then trump news on selling api data for 100k usd a month
shortly after, we went through with some guba and grip merit final pass review (see tweet link below for what these two means)
proposal goes live soon, join us as grape DAO call continues today
๐Grape rewards system for active contributors
GUBA
- stable pool allocated to active contributors in the DAO. Periodically distributed based on set metrics for activities and contributions.
GRIP
- Grape token which serve as "governance power" granted to contributors captured in the GUBA pool. Strengthens alignment with the native token economy of the DAO.
MERITS
- Quarterly recognition for contributors who consistently go above and beyond in advancing the DAO.
BOUNTY
- Funding pools designed to incentivize completion of well-defined tasks of significant benefits to the DAO. Flexible and adaptable, allowing the dao to target urgent or high-priority initiatives.

@ForkedKirk (p4):
"This week we shipped improved voting-power management, clearer delegation details, safer vote relinquishing, and a cleaner proposal experience across desktop and mobile. Less clutter. Better control. Smoother participation"

tooling updates: migrated to use indexed RPC and GQL is a fallback, GQL may work faster but to get reduced costs from shyft we need to use indexed RPC moving forward

Sunday DAO Call Recap
We had @frankboccia_ pitched his new product, Scout - a platform for scouting stocks and crypto, track trader PnL, with a leaderboard to see who's winning and subscribe to their calls.
Published on Playstore and soon on iOS.
@ForkedKirk gave some updates on Governance. so (which we'd post later).
And a wrap up with some raffles.
Grape DAO call continues today.
Stay tuned.
Safety Measures for Running a DAO Operation
Following the recent BonkDAO $20M hack, Grape DAO discussed this at length and wants to share some governance safety tips. DAO calls are essential to the growth of every organization.
- Attendance
Every DAO member should be present on calls to discuss proposals before voting. Vote out any proposal that wasn't discussed on a call this protects the DAO from being blindsided by unrecognized proposals.
- Veto power
Set up a system where trusted/council members with veto power can void any unwanted or suspicious transactions.
- quorum
Should always be reviewed and increased appropriately to match with the DAO growth that way it becomes a bit difficult for one person to buy tokens from the open market and influence the decision
- Proposal
alerts Set up a alert tool in Discord so every new proposal triggers a notification, from draft state to final execution (Grape DAO can help you set this up).
- Active council members
Councils need to stay active in monitoring and protecting DAO voting activity, not just showing up to vote.
- Incentivize participation
Active rewards/incentives for council members help keep them engaged with ongoing DAO operations.
- Proposal lifecycle Proposals
should follow a clear flow: Draft - Discussed on DAO call - Approved - Initiated - Executed only after the voting stage is complete. No skipping straight from draft to execution.
- Proposal time
should be increased to five to seven days. That gives the Dao enough time to recognize malicious proposals and veto them out if need be
----
Unlike traditional companies, DAO treasuries are transparent by design which also makes them a target
DAO security becomes an everyone's responsibility because they are no "teams" to begin with . these measures are the foundation that keeps your organization from being the next exploit headline

last week, we wrote on how you can protect your DAO against hacks this week we will be giving a breakdown of what happened with the Bonk DAO and how practical our preventive measure is
the attacker used BonkDAO's own rules against it and walked away with ~$20M (~4.43 trillion BONK tokens) from the treasury
here's how it went down
1. The Proposal around June 30, attacker submitted Bonk Improvement Proposal #76. looked harmless even mentioned rewards for YES voters. buried inside was an instruction to transfer the bulk of the treasury to an attacker-controlled wallet
2. Buying the Vote spent ~$4-4.4M acquiring roughly 1% of BONK supply on exchanges and through DeFi lending. the DAO's quorum threshold was just 1% that's all it took
3. Nobody Showed Up proposal ran for 6 days on Solana's Realms platform. only 7 wallets voted total. attacker controlled ~99.9% of votes cast. passed easily
4. No Safety Net the moment that vote passed, the code just did what it was told. funds left the treasury in one clean move. nobody could stop it, nobody even had the chance to.the DAO's own rules said this was valid and the chain agreed
5. Aftermath then came the chaos. treasury wiped, DAO got renamed overnight, tokens started moving fast through bridges and wallets. BONK dropped 7-10% while people were still figuring out what happened. exchanges got calls, Solana Foundation got looped in, law enforcement got involved. everyone scrambling to track tokens that were already gone
and the wild part is none of the usual red flags were there. no exploit, no phishing, no insider. just a vote that passed and a transfer that executed.the attacker followed every rule the DAO had written for itself
what made this possible
1% quorum threshold
token-weighted voting with near-zero participation
no timelock on treasury execution
no checks on large fund movements
voter turnout was basically nonexistent
governance capture in its purest form. the attacker spent $4M and walked away with $20M, all by following the rules
user funds, BONKbot, BONKTrade and the token supply were untouched only the DAO treasury. community is treating it as a design failure and pushing for higher quorums and timelocks
below you can see how to prevent it on first tweet
The message is clear and true. The ecosystem is evolving
As Grape keeps improving governance experience on governance. so with reputation system to track and reward active participation, from a verification system that let's you build a community of trust and proof of work, and having a tool that gives you access to all these products on the go - via the Grape Wallet (still in Beta)
We couldn't agree more, Solana is truly an ecosystem of gradual consistent building and growth.
DAO Call Recap:
The DAO call was particularly short, and this was due to the World Cup as several DAO members didn't want to miss the final.
It was football themed:
- Messi and Lamine Yamal: Photos came up and how the event could have been fixed from way before long (WWE style).
- Debate: The DAO had a friendly debate on who they think should win and why.
- We joked about how this Sunday's DAO call will go down in history as one of the shortest we have ever had
and eventually Spain won, congrats to the wonder kid and his team for coming this far!
We ended with some raffles, and DAO call activities resume today!
You can join us here at these times as stipulated on the infographic.

Solana x the WORLD CUP
no doubt this is going to be the biggest world cup ever
with three countries hosting: USA, Canada and Mexico
but how can you capture the most upsides using solana?
> @pumpfun: Pumpfun is an app that lets you host memecoins. they're obv memecoins that are going to pop up from the world cup. can check it out but your risk appetite should be minimal because this are the surest way to run your funds back to losses
> @daremarket: Dare market is an app that lets people put up bounties on anything. you will be sure to see some world cup based bounties, you can play accordingly
> @JupiterExchange: has a prediction based market where you can predict on anything and place money behind your opinions of the world cup. it has a world cup based competition with prize pool up to 125k usd you can check out
Grapeprotocol (me) : Join us on Tuesdays and Sundays, to discuss ecosystem updates, geopolitics and other global events like the World Cup amidst US vs Iran tension. Don't miss the fun.
well done Ronaldo regardless you're still our goat and you made us proud today ๐๐ฝ
