Today, @GovernorVA Youngkin and I visited Grayson County and reaffirmed our commitment to Southwest Virginia after the recent storms and flooding.
Thank you to our first rescuers, utility crews, and the many volunteers assisting in the response. As more storms are forecasted this weekend, please follow the guidance from state and local officials.
I’m here in Grayson County with LG @WinsomeSears at the Independence Volunteer Fire Department to remind everyone to stay safe and make smart decisions. We have resources on the ground to help prepare for the upcoming storm and we will continue to monitor the forecast.
On #NationalLawEnforcementAppreciationDay we celebrate the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep our cities, counties and campuses safe. Virginia is home to thousands of these heroes who protect us every day. We are forever grateful for your commitment to serve.
We must stop the cycle of violence and crime that is being enabled by some local governments. In Virginia, illegal immigrants who commit crimes will be turned over to ICE. Let me be clear, Virginia is not a sanctuary state. https://t.co/22qTiWDjPb
Thank you @GraysonSheriff for allowing us to visit your agency yesterday. It is important we maintain and build relationships with those who keep our Commonwealth safe!
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Chances are child sexual abuse HAS happened to someone you know. If we don’t talk about it, it won’t stop. #NCAPM https://t.co/mmbYCSIfBH
Members of the Virginia Law Enforcement Sheriffs met with officials with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services today to discuss current issues facing law enforcement. #LawEnforcement
In honor of National Consumer Protection Week, my office has released VA's top 10 consumer complaint subjects.
Virginians should stay vigilant to any sale or service that seems suspicious and report any consumer concern.

The Virginia Law Enforcement Sheriffs enjoyed a great reception this evening with Governor Glenn Youngkin, Lt. Governor Winsome Sears & Attorney General Jason Miyares!
If anyone tries to tell you there is no effort to defund the police in VA, do not believe them. Today House members, including a self-described socialist, filed budget amendments to defund local police, State Police + the school resource officer (SRO) program.
Tennessee protesters will face harsher penalties, including losing the right to vote, for breaking certain laws during demonstrations under a new law enacted by Gov. Bill Lee. https://t.co/DK4f9jQH8z
Qualified Immunity -- A recurring topic in current discourse about police reform, qualified immunity is a complex concept best understood in the context of its history and legal underpinnings.

In 2019 @GovernorVA: "The SROs...hired through these grants not only make our schools safer, but also enhance our communities by building strong positive relationships with students, faculty and parents."
We need to keep the SRO program, funded on a bipartisan basis for 20 yrs.
