Every Book is a Journey of Discovery. Hosted by @UniofGreenwich & @orncgreenwich. A @Royal_Greenwich festival. Tweets mostly by @mastapleton. We return in 2024.
In years past, this would be the weekend when our festival would be hosting all sorts of bookish fun with @UniofGreenwich & @orncgreenwich. It's not happening this year, but we will return!
All the congratulations (and champagne) to our friends at @GalleyBeggars for making the Booker Prize longlist again, this time for “After Sappho” by Selby Wynn Schwartz. We’re so happy for you! A much-deserved honour.
FREE BOOKS! (Do we have your attention now?) Come along to this free creative writing workshop Thursday at 2 pm at @ElthamLibrary, then listen to local authors. Free copies of the "City of Stories" anthology, featuring fab London authors, will be there for the taking.
The Greenwich Book Festival will be back in 2023! We look forward to hosting all sorts of events for every kind of book lover next summer. See you then!
This is such sad news. The Costa Book Awards were a brilliant boost to authors, the book industry and book lovers (all the best people). We hope this isn't really the end, and that a new sponsor is found soon.
Creative writing fans! (And if you follow us, we hope you are) Our friends at @STWevents & @greenwichlibs are hosting a FREE creative writing workshop at Eltham Centre Library on 16 June at 2-4 pm. A BSL interpreter will be there. Register here: https://t.co/st0W9ypM6E
Still floating from last night but coming down briefly to say, we are so proud to have won @thebookseller#Nibbies Children's Publisher of the Year award! This is HUGE for our tiny team and even bigger for all of us wanting to make this industry more inclusive THANK YOU!!
In 2017, Sarah Perry came to our festival to talk about her novel "The Essex Serpent." Read her essay on how it felt when the novel was turned into a mini-series for Apple TV with Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston. https://t.co/PtWHBbyJB3
Our friend @DapsDraws (GBF19) illustrated this year's absolutely stunning @booksaremybag tote. We love it and can't wait until we get to fill it with books in October.
Happy #WorldBookDay ! For some, it might feel like a regular day. For others (like us), it feels like Christmas Day all over again. Official World Book Day lllustrations by @RobBiddulph (GBF17)
Congratulations to our founding director @alexpheby, and his publisher @galleybeggars, for making the longlist of the @PrizeRofc with the novel "Mordew." Well done, Alex!
Delighted that @moniqueroffey published by indie @peepaltreepress has won overall Costa for The Mermaid of Black Conch. I asked to review for @ST_Culture in the early summer and found it an immensely rewarding reading experience. Transporting...even when you’re stuck at home
Monday at 7 pm you can join our friends at @CWIPprize to find out who is the wittiest of them all. Everyone is invited! Go to their YouTube channel to see the live event at https://t.co/25MNrzLlTx
First they said they needed data
about the children
to find out what they’re learning.
Then they said they needed data
about the children
to make sure they are learning.
Then the children only learnt
what could be turned into data.
Then the children became data.
This is a tough development for all authors and publishers - and small presses. Tabletops are heaving, review spaces are vanishingly rare - so if you do pick up a new book by an indie author, and love it, please make all the noise you can. It will help! https://t.co/p2bOUgPpTh
