@educator4ever36 I’ll add to this, let them lose. Teach them how to lose in the privacy of your home. They should not be 10yrs old crying and carrying on at school everytime the lose or aren’t first.

@ZillennialApple I figured out that they can do it, but it’s hard. My helping is asking them does “p” come before or after “g” ok look at the second letter etc. Over the course of the year only one student asks for help. Most think I’m annoying and do it themselves. Socratic method for the win

@rayengroves My kid threw 1 real tantrum in a store. I tried to ignore it and then a stranger crouched down and asked her to go for a walk. I mama beared and screamed as loud as I could “NO YOU ARE A STRANGER!” And now we are all traumatized and she didn’t throw another fit. Do not recommend.

@hopkinsmmi @oliviajune82 Came here to say this, I would counter their answers with questions “does anyone know what that’s called?” And then I would teach the proper vocabulary. Without seeing the full lesson, I can’t tell if the lesson would have then instructed the teacher to teach the language.

@oliviajune82 When I student taught in 2018 a sixth grade teacher gave kids time to play roblox at the end of the period and let them film ticktock dances 🤷‍♀️

@marcportermagee What I find most interesting about the downfall of learning styles is that I was tested for SPED as a kid and didn’t qualify but mom was told I was a kinesthetic learner as a reason for my struggles

Elementary teachers? How do you handle misuse when the bathroom is in the room? 9yo peed on the floor, not even a “miss” just flooded the floor with pee. Then, proceeded to leave pee-pee footprints across the classroom. Admin says he says he didn’t do it. May is too long…

@karenvaites @moultano I think a lot of it is trickled down from parent’s poor reading instruction and phone addiction, add that to ipad kids and this is what we get.
