As of this week my time at #GHSMC has come to an end. I technically left on Wednesday, but it just wouldn’t feel right leaving without saying goodbye.
I have had a great time during my stay and have learned a lot.
Thank you all for having me, it’s been fun
Much Love ❤️

Once both the heart and respiratory muscles are damaged the condition becomes life threatening, with most dying from heart or respiratory failure.

(6/6) 🧵
DMD is the most common, severe form of MD, by their mid-teens the condition can start to affect the heart, causing dilated cardiomyopathy which makes the heart chambers larger, and the walls thinner.
This can then progress to breathing problems within their late teens.
(5/6) 🧵
It may ultimately be a combination of multiple different events, or it might just be one.
There is no need to feel ashamed for the way you are feeling regardless of the self-perceived severity in comparison to how others feel. You always have the right to be happy. 🙏

Both nature and nurture can play a role in whether a person develops these personality traits, they can be inherited from your parents or develop through early life experiences, the environment you are raised and the people you meet and interact with.

Depression can be triggered by many different events, often it is triggered by big upsetting life events.
Certain people with specific personality traits, such as low self-esteem, may be more vulnerable to depression.
Why is this?
Having these personality traits does not mean you will become depressed, but they can be contributing factors, especially when combined with more common causes. Stressful events, loneliness as well as drugs and alcohol can all be contributing factors toward depression.

The only issue with this is the overlap of symptoms that can be present between each variant.
The main types of EDS are:
•Hypermobile EDS
•Classic EDS
•Vascular EDS
•Kyphoscoliotic EDS

#MedicalMysteries 💊
#EherlsDanlosSyndrome (EDS) details a series of rare connective tissue disorders, with 13 variants in total.
Each variant can affect the body in different ways, however, there are common symptoms that may be shared through all 13.
(1/5) 🧵⬇️
Due to the number of variants, it can be difficult to pinpoint the right one, therefore, there is set criteria in place to help with the process of diagnosing a patient based on their specific physical signs and symptoms.
