Wishing a ‘GREAT’ Christmas to residents from Glasshoughton, Redhill and beyond. If you want to see what we’re about we next meet on February 2nd from 6.30pm at The Houghton Public House.
Castleford Civic Society are on the hunt for the #NationalUnionofMineworkers Glasshoughton Pit Banner. We hope it can be found. It’s pictured below and if anyone knows it’s whereabouts we can let the relevant people know. Thank you.
We were out today helping our local Cllrs on Churchfield Lane. We have campaigned with Chris Barker for traffic calming measures for years. We also ask regularly for weed control across our area and gulley clearance which our Cllrs have instigated again this week. 1/2
Our next meeting will include our Annual General Meeting. It will be held on Monday July 7th from 6:30pm at The Houghton Public House. It would be ‘great’ to welcome new members. You will be very welcome.
Our banners are installed next to our floral displays on the Front Street roundabout as part of #CastlefordInBloom. It would be good to hear what people think of this year’s blooms. Sorry they’re not the best photographs but it’s such a busy roundabout!
Do you have a dance troupe, majorettes, marching band and would be available to perform at our family fun day Sunday August 3rd 2025, 1pm, Redhill playing fields, Glasshoughton? We have a DJ with sound system to use too. We would love to hear from you if you can perform for us.
@MayorOfWY We are struggling to see the pace with your work. We have a terrible service in our area from @arrivayorkshire. The service has been much reduced but we still have more cancellations. Are the companies being given contracts unionised too?
Well our GREAT Xmas 🎄 Party was epic. There are 2 unclaimed raffle tickets - green/white 217 boxed wine & green/white 454 hot chocolate set. Thanks to the @WakefieldMayor for attending and to his Consort for wearing the Mayoral Chains from the former Castleford Borough too.
