Atiku Abubakar's Flight of Fancy and An Ambition On Crutches.

For nearly three decades, the Nigerian political landscape has played host to a singular, interminable political psychodrama: the relentless presidential voyage of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. Since the dawn of the Fourth Republic in 1999, the Wazirin Adamawa has maintained a stubborn, almost messianic grip on the presidential ballot, gallivanting through successive electoral cycles with the monotonous rhythm of a clock that refuses to stop.

Five times he has thrown his hat into the national ring; five times he has lost. This, despite traversing political platforms from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Action Congress (AC), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and now the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 showdown.

This unbroken marathon of ambition has done little to elevate the standards of modern democratic inclusivity or national cohesion. Instead, Atiku's prolonged shadow-boxing has consistently heightened national tensions, inflamed ethnic fault lines, and weaponized religious dogmatism.

In an era where modern pluralistic democracies demand programmatic vision, social engineering, and unifying leadership, his campaigns have relied on divisive rhetoric, regional posturing, and the stale grievances of an exhausted political elite.

Worse still, for a man who presumes to offer leadership to Africa's most populous nation, his recent resort to grievance offshoring—outsourcing political warfare to Washington and reportedly paying $1.2 million to an American lobbying firm to peddle petitions against a sitting Nigerian President—stands as an affront to Nigeria's sovereignty and a vote of no confidence in its democratic institutions.

It is also a stinging slight—an implicit condescension directed at generations of Nigerian journalists, policy analysts, academics, and public intellectuals who have spent decades analysing, critiquing, and carrying the burden of the nation's democratic evolution.

The Atiku Abubakar of today cuts a pitiable figure—a grotesque portrait of what a politician becomes when ambition overwhelms judgment and every political faculty becomes programmed for self-destruction.

No, Atiku cannot take Nigeria down that path with him. He must travel it alone. But first, Nigerians deserve Atiku Abubakar's report card. Charity, they say, begins at home—not in Washington.

Nigerians deserve to know whether the Atiku Abubakar who has long presented himself as a democrat is, in reality, a politician of many colours. He has erected for himself a throne built simultaneously on sand and bayonets. It is time to explode the bayonets.

The Sordid Ledger: Allegations That Refuse to Fade

Atiku's defenders are quick to point out a fundamental technicality: despite decades of intense political crossfire, no domestic or international court has secured a formal criminal conviction or indictment against him. Yet the persistent cloud of allegations relating to financial impropriety, abuse of office, and institutional conflict that shadows his public record cannot simply be wished away by technical acquittals or political legalese. In politics, perception is often as consequential as legal outcomes.

The most authoritative international documentation of Atiku's financial entanglements remains the 2010 U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations** report. The 328-page dossier detailed allegations that the former Vice President utilized offshore shell companies to route more than $40 million in suspect funds into the United States.

A significant portion of these transactions reportedly flowed through accounts linked to his fourth wife, Jennifer Douglas, laying the groundwork for years of international scrutiny and diplomatic visa restrictions.1/2

*₦20bn Newly Commissioned LAMECO Flyover Fast Becoming a Death Trap, APC Blasts Adeleke*

The Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council has expressed grave concern over an emerging safety disaster on the newly commissioned LAMECO Flyover in Osogbo, following reports and preliminary findings indicating serious structural defects on the multi-billion naira project.

There are reports of confirmed visible signs of structural failure on the flyover, including a deep pothole and other distress points that raise serious questions about the quality of construction and the integrity of the entire project. These disturbing developments, coming barely a month after the commissioning, are unacceptable and constitute a direct threat to the lives of innocent road users.

This unfortunate development has vindicated the decision of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, a distinguished engineer, to distance himself from the commissioning ceremony despite being invited by the Adeleke administration. The revered monarch neither attended the event nor sent a representative.

It would be recalled that the Osun APC had publicly advised Kabiyesi not to allow his impeccable professional reputation and standing as an engineer to be exploited by the state government in an attempt to confer credibility on a project whose quality had already become a subject of public concern. Today, events have proved beyond doubt that the royal father exercised sound professional judgment.

Like many projects executed under the current administration, the LAMECO Flyover was awarded to Kimzee Global Investment, a company known primarily for skills acquisition as well as arts and craft training programmes for youths and women. The decision to entrust a critical infrastructure project of this magnitude to such a "contractor" raises fundamental questions about procurement standards and the government's commitment to public safety.

Even more disturbing are allegations that the project cost the people of Osun over ₦20 billion following multiple variations carried out secretly and without transparency. It is scandalous that such enormous public resources could be expended on a project now exhibiting signs of structural distress within days of its commissioning.

Beyond the controversy surrounding the cost and contractor, the flyover itself was never a priority project, as traffic studies and daily realities do not justify such an expensive intervention.

The Adeleke government has repeatedly been accused of awarding multi-billion-naira projects to companies whose backgrounds have little or no connection with civil engineering, with many of such projects developing defects after completion.

Reports have similarly emerged that the newly commissioned Ila road project is already showing signs of structural stress, while the purported dualised road in Iwo, handled by Showie Tee Limited, an interior decoration company, has begun requiring patchwork days after its commissioning.

In view of the alarming condition of the LAMECO Flyover, the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council calls on Governor Adeleke to immediately order the closure of the flyover to enable an independent structural integrity assessment by qualified professionals before lives are endangered.

The Council also advises motorists and other road users to exercise extreme caution and, where possible, avoid using the flyover until independent experts have certified it safe for public use. The safety and welfare of the people of Osun must never be sacrificed on the altar of political propaganda or ceremonial project commissioning.

Governor Adeleke is reminded that the good people of Osun are taking note of his wickedness, and that in due time, he shall face the anti-graft agencies and the public to account for his corruption and other atrocities.

Let's do some critical thinking.

3. When did the convo take place
4. Who benefits more from the release out of the two parties involved
5. Why is the release now.

In my own thinking, the convo was done immediately HE DA announced the consensus candidate, yes at that point,some of the contestants may still be bitter(cos GNI was mentioned in the convo) Sen Amosun was also praying he gets the senatorial ticket but after the dust got settled, and Distinguished Senator Yayi went round in his reconciliatory moves, all this people mentioned in the convo decided it is time to work for the party because they know Sen Yayi will win and they started closing ranks.

The other party feels bad because of their past dealings and alignment so the recording was released so that we will start casting aspersions on the ones that are meant to work with us.

If Sen Daniel will work against the party,I can bet it with you that he will never be pronounced by him to anybody, it will be Oro hunruhunru to ngbe Inu elede,same with Sen Amosun.

DEFENCE MINISTER DESCRIBES PURPORTED MEDIA REPORT OF HIS INTENTION TO STEP DOWN AS FAKE NEWS

The Office of the Minister of Defence has reacted to fake media report alleging the Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa has expressed intention to step down from his position.

A statement by the special assistant, media to the Minister, Leah Katung-Babatunde says, the report is false and borne out of complete mischief, stressing that
General Christopher Gwabin Musa remains focused on his national security mandate, committed to his duties, and dedicated to piloting the nation's defence strategy with results already being seen.

The statement urged the public to disregard the fake news and advise media organisations to desist from spreading unverified information and seek clarifications from the office.
