@BTRBT_ Extreme capitalism is also not the solution, if you think about it extreme capitalism basically just leads to exploitation. That’s the entire thought right? Minimize operating costs to provide the cheapest and best product to the public no matter the cost!
@BTRBT_ Im not a die hard socialist, in ways I wish Europe was more capitalist but I also understand that socialist policies make sure that even if people are poor they can afford to live life and have some enjoyment while doing so. Inequality is needed to AN EXTENT.
@freesky0008@Dogbowl31Medb@JimMellody2@SariArhoHavren Europeans shouldn’t think they are “better”, my point is that the nationalistic spirit in America is so much stronger and arguable more toxic than in Europe which leads to this “head in the sand” type of mentality about problems in the US.
@JimMellody2@freesky0008@Dogbowl31Medb@SariArhoHavren No strawman.. the person I was replying to was literally just refusing to believe any negative statistic about the US. Regarding the European “unhealthy obsession” it’s less an obsession and more a warning for us. Culturally everything that happens in the US eventually comes here
@thealepalombo Depends, if I get to choose where in the US I would love to live in manhattan or Massachusetts or somewhere like that. If you tell me that you are gonna drop me randomly into a random place in Europe vs random place in America. Europe all day
Nights in Europe during summer are literally colder than this btw 💀 where I live nights rn are around 14-16C (57-61F), so I guess Americans are the ones who have it a bit hot.
@hollyoxcoburn@johmag67 you know ACs aren’t outlawed in Europe 💀 also this idea of “china and India real polluters” is just lacking so much critical thought. China and India both have 3-4x the US population, also majority of world manufacturering is IN China and India. Your phone was made in China!
@freesky0008@JimMellody2@SariArhoHavren Most European countries are in the union, the reason the stats mention union is because the union collects data about its members and publishes the data. If you were to add non-union countries aswell the average wouldn’t change much since majority of EU is in the union.
@freesky0008@Dogbowl31Medb@JimMellody2@SariArhoHavren Why do you refuse to believe that the US is not perfect? Are you arguing that higher life expectancy is worse? Is student debt something people should want? Is rampant wealth inequality and an archaic flawed political system something that people want to live under?
@hdoikmo@SariArhoHavren Right and what did you guys do with this war? Deplete your oil reserves, establish an “environmental toll” on the strait of Hormuz, hand china political power and pay Iran 300B with no change in their nuclear power capacity. You guys must be tired of winning!
@JimMellody2@SariArhoHavren Great you guys made a lot of medicine but still die earlier than Europeans, you have elite universities but most people can’t afford to go to them, you also consistently rank lower on safety metrics than the EU… how are these problems you are blind to?
@MindRepaired@SariArhoHavren Healthcare? US has a lower average life expectancy and also “good living years”. Safety? US also ranks consistently lower on safety metrics. Another big thing in the US is that you guys are so polarised politically that the 2 halves of the country cannot stand eachother…..
@hdoikmo@SariArhoHavren It’s insane to defend the US in humanitarian terms when they started a war with Iran for fun and also spent 11 years in Afghanistan destroying the country for fun….
@BTRBT_ Yes that’s why I said “rarely” and not never, there are things that obviously are worth being extremely for or agains. Comparing that to economic systems is a complete strawman. You have to regulate markets to an extent otherwise you will get rampant inequality
