The demigod explained he was bound by his labours and would safely return the creature once he had brought it before the king. Artemis agreed that he could take the hind as long as he promised to free it once he was done.
The third labour of Hercules was to bring back the Ceryneian Hind and bring it back alive.
They had golden horns and bronze hooves. This creature was incredibly fast, could snort fire, and was also very sacred to Artemis.
he swiftly threw a net over it to ensnare it but not cause harm.
As Hercules was bringing the creature back to the king, he faced the wrath of the goddess, Artemis, who demanded to know why Hercules was trying to take the hind.
Hercules then cut off the final head with a golden sword he had received from the goddess Athena. The last head, which was still writhing, was placed on the path between Lerna and Elaius. His second task was complete.
The second labour of Hercules was to defeat the Lernaean Hydra. Hera had raised this creature in the hope of killing the demigod.
This multi-headed serpent had been attacking villagers and cattle in Lerna. Accompanied by his nephew, Iolaus, Hercules set off to destroy the beast.
Inspired by Athena, Iolaus came up with the idea to cauterise each neck after a head had been cut. The pair worked together, cutting and cauterising the creature. Hera saw that the beast was losing and sent large crabs to distract Hercules, but he simply crushed them underfoot.
The first labour of Hercules was to kill the Nemean lion.
Hercules went in search of the lion equipped with a bow and arrows, and his club. Unbeknown to him, the lion's hide was made of impenetrable golden fur.
Afterwards, Hercules used a knife a to attempt skinning the lion, this was to no avail. The goddess Athena watched the hero struggling, and suggested he use one of the lions claws to remove the hide.
The demigod returned to king Eurystheus whilst wearing the lions pelt.
