Every day, thousands of people walk through busy roads in Abuja to get to work, school, markets and healthcare centres.
Yet many roads still lack:
❌ Safe crossings
❌ Functional walkways
❌ Speed management
❌ Traffic calming measures

Ignoring traffic lights can lead to serious crashes, injuries, and loss of lives. Let’s all do our part - drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians - by obeying traffic lights every time.
Safety starts with you.
Traffic lights are there to keep everyone safe and traffic moving smoothly.
Red means stop, yellow means get ready, and green means go. When we all follow these simple signals, we help prevent road crashes, reduce traffic congestion, and keep order on our roads.
On Thursday, 14 May, the FCT Command of the FRSC Special Marshals, led by the State Coordinator, donated chairs to Radio Maria 91.3FM Abuja.
GreenLight Initiative was present at the presentation to support this community-focused effort to improve the radio station’s work.
1. Use the sidewalk Walk on the sidewalk to stay away from moving vehicles.
2. Look both ways before crossing Check left, right, and left again before crossing the road.
3. Cross at zebra crossings Use safe crossing points made for pedestrians.
4. Obey traffic lights Follow road signals to know when it is safe to cross.
5. Do not run on the road Running can cause accidents because drivers may not react quickly.
6. Hold an adult’s hand Young children should cross roads with adults for safety.
