Another successful year for the raptors here at Cumberwell. Three Barn Owl chicks, two Little Owl chicks and four Kestrels were all bred and are doing well. ๐ฆ๐ฃ

A fantastic day out yesterday in the Vale of Pewsey, Wiltshire, monitoring and ringing Barn Owls with the Lewis Raptor Group. Back at the course today it was time to replace a worn out Barn Owl box with a new one that I made during the winter ๐ฆ @CumberwellPark@sustainablegolf
It was fantastic giving members of the Corona group a tour of the course this afternoon. We showed off our wildflower meadows, veteran oak trees and lakes that provide such a great habitat for wildlife. @CumberwellPark@sustainablegolf
We were delighted to have @redkingcraw from @CBeebiesHQ at the course today filming our Little Owls for the programme Teeny Tiny Creatures. A big thanks to @emilyjoachim for coming to do the ringing and providing her insight.

We welcomed Bath Corona Group for their 30th anniversary lunch today. Guest speakers Head of Conservation @GreenKeepen & Course Manager @Matthew198James gave an insight into our conservation work on the golf courses ๐๐ฆ๐๐บ
We're fortunate to have our local branch of Butterfly Conservation conducting surveys to help us better understand what species we have on course and how we can help them. Clive and Hugo have also been putting out moth traps with some fantastic results! ๐ฆ @savebutterflies
๐ธ @CumberwellPark and the surrounding area is a magnet for wildlife and we caught up with @wildmanrouse about some of his photos and the beautiful landscape around the course ๐ ๐ฆ ๐
Thought I'd try sowing some wildflower seed in pots at home this year, I think they've turned out nicely. I'm calling them 'Pollinator Pitstops' ๐๐ธ๐ผ๐ฆ
@antgib Gutted not to be at the Oval tonight cheering on the cider men, had tickets but the crowd limitations thwarted us. Watching from home with a glass of Thatchers. Come on the Somerset!
Thanks to @emilyjoachim for coming to ring our birds again this year. 4 Little Owl chicks, 7 Barn Owl chicks and 2 Kestrels hatched on the course and will be flying before too long. Great to see golf and nature sharing the same space and thriving. ๐ฃ ๐ฆ โณ
Leaving areas of lawn uncut is a fantastic way of encouraging pollinators and insects into your garden, you never know what plants may pop up. The added bonus is less mowing for you too!
We want golf courses that are becoming more environmentally friendly or enhancing biodiversity to be recognised and strongly encourage them to enter the golf environment awards! Entries close Friday 30th July!
