We are just causing so much pain. On both ends. Why??? Cause white men want to feel good about themselves, cause they hate the bad guy, they're punishing the bad guy, which means they're a good guy, right?
You know who is so often completely forgotten about in our discussions of SA, or abuse in general. Actual survivors of abuse. Everytime some famous person is accused we immediately forget about the survivor and yell about the accused, either trying to defend them or rag on them.
The criminal justice system is never about what the survivor thinks is justice, it's what the old white guys who make the laws and run the court rooms think is justice. It really saddens me whenever I think about it.
Like you can want these people in prison for many other reasons, punishment, protection like I mentioned. But don't pretend it's justice to make urself feel better.
You know hat really pisses me off, when people talk about "justice for survivors" or claims a particular survivor or group of survivors got "justice" because their abuser is in a cage like an animal.
I am sure the men, who have never had to face anything even close to the...
It's protection is what it is, but it's about as far away from justice as one could possibly get.
Some may get offended that I'm assuming these men have not faced criminal assault, well if you think locking someone up like an animal is justice, you pretty clearly, have not.
I love when someone is accused of something horrible and we just don't stop talking about them. That's how you really stick it to a narcissists, DONT STOP TALKING ABOUT THEM!!!
Who knew "support survivors" and "believe survivors" meant believe everything you hear that comes out of a woman's mouth blindly and when they do accuse someone of something you completely forget everything about them and abuse/harass the accused for personal gratification.
Like even the office, which is ight but 100x better then any of the sitcoms out there now (other then always sunny), has jim and pam, who else in that show is portrayed as likeable? Michael at then end maybe, I don't think any other person. Those are the funny people, idiots.
Sitcoms are shit now cause they're trying to be to "woke" WHY DO ALL YOUR CHARACTERS HAVE TO BE LIKEABLE PEOPLE (they aren't likeable but I guess that's what they're going for). Watching likeable people isn't funny. I work with unlikeable people, and they do some funny shit.
Or maybe it was commentary. The reason the Jury didn't convict was pretty much explicitly cause they were confused. Like that's pretty much what they explicitly stated. That's unfortunately the case in a lot of SA cases so COMMENTARY on the incompetence of our justice system.
See my annoyance with this episode is that it was Assault as far as I could tell. The girl was vomiting completely descheviled and also didn't consent to sex in any meaningful way. But they don't explain that they just say "r*** by statute" and it's over. Perpetuating myths much.
Also last episode the said it was "R*** by statute" when a guy had sex w a girl he didn't know had been drugged....that is not a thing anywhere. A mistaken belief of consent is a defense to R*** in every state.

S2 E10 was really progressive other then they DIDN'T EXPLAIN ANYTHING so people who aren't in the know probably left the ep with more questions then answers.
SVU promoting affirmative consent before it was cool. Also talking shit about college investigations then showing that they are more effective then the police.
