Thank you, @iamjohnoliver and @LastWeekTonight! Not only did you shine a light on environmental racism. You did so by providing well-researched example after example of its pervasiveness. Punctuated by recommendations for systemic solutions. Starting with naming RACE! Bravo!!
🚨🚨🚨I am begging everyone to pay attention to what is happening in Congress. After blocking the Dem climate+ agenda, Senator Manchin is pushing a “deal” that would expand fossil fuel production and endanger many lives. This is not a climate deal, this is breakfast for industry.
The #GNDChampions platform is a great way to build momentum for change and remind people that there are uplifting, positive solutions on the horizon.
Excited to watch these champions at work!

Tomorrow, the IPCC will issue a massive new report. It will find that, basically, we need a Green New Deal, w incredibly ambitious public action to coordinate and help fund trillions in green investment to prevent total climate breakdown.
Hardly anyone will talk about it. 1/4
This. We're seeing in real time how little evidence it takes for blame-the-left takes to get written up. Moderates have gotten their way since day one, with Dems passing only ARP and BIF. Their strategy is the one being tested. It would be nice to see a little accountability.
Peterson brings up “birds that don’t live in strict hierarchies,” and I would say:
Leave the birds out of this.
You have enough humans getting tired of your rhetoric. Just leave the birds alone… 🐧🐦🐔🦩🦃🦆🦉
.@JordanBPeterson has never heard of the #GreenNewDeal.
He says hardship for the poor is an “absolutely, 100% inevitable consequence” of higher energy costs.
Not even considering an integrated push for green energy and social uplift.
On Joe Rogan, @jordanbpeterson questions leftist climate change initiatives that drive up energy costs.
“The left wing types, particularly, seem willing to sacrifice the poor to their utopian [visions].”
@causamdicere@chrislhayes In 1945, many high school kids were hoping they would turn 18 in time to be part of the fight.
A sentiment almost unimaginable today when we see people unhappy with basic Covid precautions after just 2 years.
@causamdicere@chrislhayes How about people who lived through the London Blitz in WW2?
What puzzles me is how people today resist modest lifestyle changes, whereas just two generations ago, an entire society mobilized in the face of a common threat.
The US was in WW2 for 3 1/2 years. There were huge sacrifices that upended every aspect of life.
Why do so many assume it’s impossible to continue the fight against Covid for even 2 full years?
.@wutrain keeps making good moves. Probably ran the single best campaign of 2021. If this is what a fusion of the Bernie and Warren wings can do to local politics, then we should feel pretty good about leftist electoral work in cities & states. It’s building time.
@igorbobic I don't recall one pundit or "moderate" saying, "If the GOP wants to move on from the divisiveness of the Trump era, they should replace McConnell as leader, who has led with procedural radicalism & clearly stated intent to sabotage Democratic presidents"

Half of presidents are below average. So why don’t some resign when they see how things aren’t going their way?
It’s a really, really hard job. No shame in being outmaneuvered.
But if maybe someone could do it better, why not give them a shot for the country’s good?
Biden’s theory of government was appealing. He won the election. But it’s been proven wrong.
If he just stepped aside now for another president, I’d respect that choice.
Biden acknowledges he didn't anticipate how much opposition he would face from Rs.
Which is something bc much of the 2020 primary was everyone yelling at him that he was failing to anticipate how much opposition he would face from Rs after he promised they'd have an "epiphany."
I don’t say this with ill feeling, but if Biden’s whole persona and plan for running the US govt doesn’t work, he could gently step aside.
The next 10 years may be the most important in the century. Every one counts immensely.
