...and took a moment to just breathe.

To look at the colours painting the sky & the mist floating in the valley. To appreciate that even on the bad days, farming to me is still the best job in the world.

Lambing here is about as extensive as it gets, which has its merits...but boy do I miss the home comforts of a UK lambing shed - troublemakers within catching distance, lube and milk powder on tap, triplets next door to singles...

Ah well maybe one day when I win the lottery 😔

@jameshadwin Had some great employers in NZ this past year that have shown me it's possible to build a farming dream and have a good family life. Think it's an old farming mentality that needs to change, work-life balance is important

@jameshadwin Definitely agree there's an issue- when I got into ag it seemed to be a badge of honour to work all hours under the sun on the farm... I later realised it was a fast route to losing my passion for the job & industry

This👌🙌 ➡ "Work at something you enjoy" ... Luckily someone said the same thing to me 7 years ago, best piece of career advice I ever got. Being happy in what you do is more important than any grade.

A level results? I got 3 A's & spent 95% of my "corporate" career hiding in the toilets and sob/ranting on the phone to my mum about what Linda said to me by the coffee machine. Good grades dont define your potential. Embrace your personality, and work at something you enjoy.

Break feeding has been a bit of a learning curve (nicely represented by my sort-of-not-straight fence - I blame the mulcher-er😏), but getting kinda hooked on this whole thing #everydaysaschoolday
