James McCann was a Civil War Veteran who led a remarkable life. During the war, James served with the 74th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Near the end of his life, he experienced the disastrous 1913 flood in Dayton, when he was rescued from the upper level of a flooded house by a boat.
