@gracepetrie But surely that is the whole point. Those of us who can afford to pay should be contributing not only to our own use but to help those who need more support. What we shouldn't be doing is subsidising those on a decent living income at the expense of those that need support.

I've been asked for some advice.
A lad with a gamekeeping background wants to get into farming but has limited experience. Is there anyone in Hampshire/Wiltshire/Dorset who can advise or better still consider him for a job? He's a hard worker, young and very keen.

Doesn't look appealing does it ? but this is a peat core taken from a 6m deep peat bog in Carmarthenshire. Imagine how much water 6m of peat bog can hold. Now imagine where that water goes when you dig up the peat to grow petunias. Yes it goes in your living room
