​How does it disadvantage Africa?
​The 1945 Freeze: The Charter was written in 1945 when almost all of Africa was still under colonial rule. African nations had no say in the drafting of the rules they are now forced to follow.

​The Veto Trap (Article 27): The Charter grants permanent seats and Veto power to only five nations (P5: USA, UK, France, Russia, China). No African nation has a permanent seat. This means one Western power can veto a resolution supported by all 54 African nations.

​Chapter VII Inequity: The Security Council has the power to authorize military intervention or sanctions. Historically, these powers have been used almost exclusively against Global South nations, often bypassing the AU's own peace and security frameworks.

​What voice and powers does Africa have in the UN?
​The General Assembly (The "Voice"): In the General Assembly, Africa has the largest voting bloc (54 votes). Every country has one vote. This is Africa’s "moral pulpit" where it can pass non-binding resolutions.
