@ajarrodkimber Fleming the captain had (at one point) Cairns, Oram, McCullum and Vettori at 6 through 9. There was many a green top where the top order perished and the group dug us out of a hole.
@benjonescricket@jamesc_422 But it very clearly doesn't, though. How many 5 test series did New Zealand play as WTC champions? Or SA in the same position? Major series means Auatralia and India for England. Even if either of those teams ended up slipping down the test rankings to 8th or 9th.
@_hypocaust I like the defending champs to top the group. I think the top order will have benefited from time spent in England and conditions in June should be better for them than they were in May.
@benjonescricket Yup, our test bowling talent has been constantly refreshed over the last few seasons with awesome long term prospects gaining experience. Our test batting could fall of a cliff when the dominoes start to fall.
@danbrettig@Cricket_Ali Surely the answer is a single Super Cricket tournament with teams based on existing teams in SA, Aus and NZ. One comp means less demand for "overseas" players, making all players affordable for all 3 countries teams.
@PaulDennett_ I think the WTC is the pinacle; it's literally played over 2 years! I know Aus, Eng and Ind have series between them that they might consider bigger than the WTC, but this is the one Test Trophy all test nations can aspire too and as such should be rated thr highest.
@cricketingview I see you've ordered the chats by end scored and runs conceded, but pegasus the best measure for ordering by merit would be raar per innings for batters raar per spell for bowlers? I feel that a key taker away here is that NZ is very dependent on Finn Allen to get NZ to an
