People recently bashed the Pro Football Hall of Fame committee (deservedly) but how about some scrutiny for Basketball Hall of Fame chair Jerry Colangelo? Coach K.C. Jones continues to be bypassed inexplicably. Colangelo and his committee (@Hoophall @JuliusErving et al) seem to have a blind spot when it comes to Jones. Consider the following:

🏀 Doc Rivers and Dick Motta are the NBA coaches who are finalists this year. They combined to win 2 NBA Championships and 4 Conference titles. K.C. Jones won 2 NBA Championships and 5 Conference Championships by himself. This does not include the 3 rings he won as an assistant coach.

🏀 When the @NBA named their 75th Anniversary Team they also named the Top 15 coaches in NBA history. Only one has previously been eligible for the Hall of Fame and not inducted: K.C. Jones.

🏀 There is only one retired head coach who has won multiple NBA titles and is not in the Hall of Fame: K.C. Jones.

🏀 There is only one retired head coach who has reached more than 3 NBA Finals and is not in the Hall of Fame: K.C. Jones (5).

🏀 Of every coach in NBA history with 500 wins, only Phil Jackson has a better winning percentage than K.C. Jones.

🏀 No previously eligible coach not in the Hall of Fame comes close to his career playoff wins (81). Next is 57.

Would be great if some of his former players and those who covered him supported Coach K.C. Jones getting inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. Seems like 86-year old Jerry Colangelo wields way too much power if he can keep out a class act with such an impressive resume. To date, zero reasoning has been offered. Sad.
