When Andrew first arrived at Dominique and Kevin Gill's home in Nashville in 2018, he was 10 years old.
He had already spent four years in state custody.
Andrew entered foster care when he was 6, after his biological parents' parental rights were terminated. He had four siblings, and they were all adopted. Andrew remained in the system.
By the time he reached the Gills, he had learned not to expect people to stay.
During his first week in their home, Andrew mostly kept to himself. He stayed behind his bedroom door, looking through old photographs and barely wanting to talk.
Dominique and Kevin hadn't entered foster care planning to adopt. Dominique had grown up in a family that fostered children, and she wanted to offer another child the same kind of temporary home.
Then their son Joc walked into Andrew's life.
Joc simply asked Andrew if he wanted to play video games with him.
He did.
They played together, discovered a shared love for games like Minecraft, and slowly became best friends.
Andrew still struggled with everything he had been through. Sometimes he became angry. Sometimes he pushed the Gills away and told them he wanted to leave.
But they stayed.
Andrew eventually left their home after being matched with a prospective adoptive family. That placement didn't work out, and he returned to the Gills. Another prospective adoption also fell through.
By then, something had changed.
Andrew wasn't just a foster child living in their house anymore. Joc already saw him as his best friend. Dominique and Kevin had begun seeing him as their son.
In May 2020, when Andrew was 12, he was taken for a walk through a local park.
Around a corner, Dominique, Kevin, Joc, friends and family were waiting with balloons and signs.
They had one question for him.
Would he stay with them forever?
Andrew said yes.
Two months later, in July 2020, the adoption became official.
The boy Joc had once invited to play video games was now legally his brother.
Dominique later said Andrew would often thank the family for accepting him.
And for one thing in particular.
"Thank you for not giving up on me."
Years after arriving at their home as a quiet 10 year old who barely wanted to come out of his room, Andrew finally knew he wasn't waiting for another family anymore.
He was already home.
I took this photo of my older brother John, I was 18 & he was 20. He introduced me to the Who and Mott the Hoople. Hunter Thompson, Charles Bukowski. Brains, brawn and bluster- John died this week doing what he loved, heart attack on a bike trail in DC. Gonna blast Aqualung now.
The time for soft Christianity is over.
Now is the time for Christians to boldly act.
No more cheek turning and praying from places of safety.
It’s time to bravely act for the survival of our faith, our families, and our country.
3 strong beautiful Black women. My mother, who gave birth to me (10 pounds 9 ounces, no epidural). She's struggling with my transition, naturally. Im kidding, she's been very supportive! The other is my baby sister, going into her last year of college as a division I athlete.
I helped raise her and she has put a lot of time into the game of basketball. A crazy career, state titles lost to Covid shutdowns, back surgery, grueling workouts with me. She's starting her master's program! We're very proud of her and will protect her at all costs. Maybe her and I will be drafted together? Wouldn't that be something!

The Muslim religion is the fastest-growing religion per capita in the United States, especially among minority races.
Last month I attended a training. During the training session, three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Muslim faiths each presented their beliefs.
I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Muslim gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.
After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Muslim and asked:
'Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?'
There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, “Nonbelievers"
I responded, 'So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?'
The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.'
He sheepishly replied, 'Yes.'
I then stated, 'Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine the Pope commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same to guarantee them a place in heaven!'
The Muslim was speechless.
I continued, 'I also have a problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! Let me ask you a question:
Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and He wants you to be there with me?'
You could have heard a pin drop.
Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with my way of dealing with the Islamic Imam, and exposing the truth about the Muslims' beliefs.
In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the US to elect the President.
I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized unless each of us sends it on! This is your chance to make a difference.
💔Derrick Moore, 47, a beloved elementary school teacher and father of four from Loganville, Georgia, gave his life on August 7, 2026, to save a young girl he had never met.
While at Myrtle Beach, SC, he saw the child caught in a powerful rip current after lifeguards had gone off duty. Without hesitation, he ran into the water, pulled her to safety, and then was swept under himself. His body was recovered the next day.
He was known as “Coach” to his students at Rockbridge Elementary. Colleagues and family describe him as a man who always showed up with a smile and a heart ready to help.
He didn’t know the little girl.
He just knew she needed saving.
Rest in power, Derrick Moore.
True hero. Forever. 💔🇺🇸🫡
If Sophie Cunningham had clotheslined a black player attempting a layup, been kicked out of the game, and then tweeted black privilege from the locker room, @wnba would have already suspended her for the season and maybe banned her for life. We all know this is true.
Voy al gimnasio a las 7 y hay un señor de unos 70 haciendo sentadillas con más peso que yo. Le suelto que a su edad tiene mucho mérito. Me mira, sonríe y sigue. A la semana siguiente me lo cruzo en el vestuario y me dice una frase que llevo un año repitiendo…
