Hasan Piker: “I’m a socialist, I’m an anti-imperialist, I want what’s best for Americans, and what’s best for everyone all around the world. We live in the wealthiest nation on the planet and I find it unconscionable that there are 600K people who go to sleep outside every single night. I find it unconscionable that we do not have a public healthcare system. We certainly have enough money to pay for it. I find it morally repugnant that we use so much of our productive output on waging wars overseas, destabilizing the entire world, instead of using that wealth on ourselves”
Troy Jackson: We're losing $3 billion in healthcare. We're losing SNAP benefits. We're losing heating assistance. Susan Collins could have stopped that if she really cared. But she doesn't. She does whatever Donald Trump wants. I can't understand how anyone in their right mind can actually defend that vote.
‘But I got road salt exempted from Trump’s tariffs’ is really the perfect way to sum up Susan Collins during the Trump era. While he does hundreds of things to hurt Mainers, she brags about one small thing she did to help her reelection, while doing nothing on the big things.
Power means nothing if you won't use it when the people of Maine need it.
Maine deserves better. Maine deserves change. We have the chance to build a government that serves the people, not the ultra-wealthy. Let’s go win this thing.
.@JamesTalarico on Texas officially banning THC:
“This bill is insane.
Texans aren’t going to stop smoking weed and eating edibles because politicians in Austin say so. Texans will still use THC — but instead of getting it safely from a local small business, they’ll go back to getting it from the black market. From the drug cartels.
This ban is a gift to the cartels.
We are now telling full-grown adults how to live their lives. This is the nanny state at its worst; this is big government at its worst.
Instead of fully funding our schools, guaranteeing healthcare, or making childcare more affordable — this Legislature is focused on banning a product that gives people a little peace.
We’re making people’s lives harder, not easier.
I want to leave you with a quote: ‘It is time to end needless arrests and incarcerations of adults for small amounts of marijuana for personal use.’ That wasn’t a Democrat. That was President Donald Trump.
To my Republican colleagues, I’m asking you to oppose the cartels, stand with President Trump, and vote no on this insane bill.”
In case you missed Susan Collins embroiled in a pay-to-play scheme…
Maine, it’s time to send Susan Collins packing this November. We can’t afford six more years of being sold out to Trump and Collins’ corporate cronies.
Susan Collins was being investigated by the FBI for alleged bribery. Trump came in and covered it up. Collins may pretend to be a moderate, but on corruption, she’s a MAGA Republican.
That’s why we need @TroyJackson207 to win and help us take the Senate.
This is an incredible story of corruption.
I kinda love that the fake shell company the weapons maker used to bribe Susan Collins was called “Society of Young Women Scientist and Engineers LLC.”
New: In late 2024, FBI investigators had enough evidence to launch a sweeping bribery probe that could ensnare top lawmakers, including Sen. Susan Collins. Then Trump was reelected and eviscerated the FBI and DOJ teams handling public corruption probes. https://t.co/oCahGd4lgY
Macklemore: “Free Palestine. I said Free Palestine! I want those words to be loud and clear so the people from Gaza all the way to the occupied West Bank know we have not forgotten them. To all of my Jewish brothers and sisters: criticism of Israel, criticism of apartheid, being against genocide in no way is a criticism of you. My message is for peace. Love for all human beings to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality. None of us will be free until we are all free”
notice how many of the people engaging in a months-long moral panic about leftist influencers are the same people who are constantly lecturing about the need to engage with every tiny-brained conservative dullard they can think of to respect some sacred free exchange of ideas
The United States keeps sending the same 80-year-old man with a limited vocabulary, face painted in orange pigment, hands bruised and covered in caked makeup, girdled pants, and indescribable hair, to high level meetings and press conferences, ostensibly to speak to America's interests, and the issues of the day.
But all he does - and all he ever does - is talk about himself, how he is smart and other are stupid, how he knows this and that better than anyone, and then he insists that up is down, black is white, and bad is good.
He will recite grandiose claims of wars he thinks he has ended, and he will insult rivals and predecessors. And then - in increasingly incomplete and broken sentences - he will begin to rant, ramble, and riff ... it might start on subjects of global import but will descend to windmills, witch hunts, whales, water pressure, and whatever. The audience will roll its eyes.
He will make a few threats, put forth empty hyperbole, and say a few things that nobody quite understands, and the audience's eyes will almost roll out of their sockets.
World leaders have made fun of this man privately at every turn. They all know they cannot trust him; they know the 80-year-old man is ill and in decline, is heavily medicated, and probably craps his pants.
They hope and pray that if they wait it out a little longer, the 80-year-old man will be gone, and they'll have a more comfortable and less risky discourse with someone else soon and get back to being friends with America.
They look forward to the day when America will be worth being friends with again.
At 95, William Shatner has formed a metal band, booked Riot Fest and begun recording with dozens of genre legends. These things happen.
From Michael's new interview with @williamshatner, out now.
