@ReemAmirIbrahim on prohibition: "Either the legal market will supply nicotine products, or the illicit market will. There is no third option where nobody supplies it -- because demand still exists." #GFN26
PMI has officially confirmed Zyn Ultra to launch in June 2026. 9mg and 11mg strengths, 20 pouches per can, slim/moist pouches, and a price point per pouch below Zyn Mini Dry. Here's all the details!
Not sure when US e-stores like https://t.co/zN6ojc6GRs will have them in stock, but I'll be watching and waiting!

Renormalizing smoking, gateway theory, undoing decades of work to reduce smoking.
It was all rubbish—some undoubtedly believed what they were saying, but any reasonable person would have adjusted their views years ago.
The cigarette smoking rate among U.S. adults dropped to another all-time low last year, with 1 in 11 adults saying they were current smokers, according to government survey data.

Compared to smoking cigarettes, would you say that e-cigarettes are… “less harmful” or "not less harmful” (just as harmful, more harmful)? The majority (60.2%) believed ecigs to be just as harmful or more harmful (18%) than combustible cigarettes. https://t.co/f8e27pLF7E
The activism of the various body part groups tend to blend together, but it's really not said often enough how much more extreme the American Lung Association is than others.
The American Lung Association @LungAssociation prefers that people keep smoking instead of switching to vaping.
I wonder why. Are plunging lung cancer rates from smokers switching to vaping a threat to its bottom line and existential for the organization?

@bdquinn What is true is that smokers fairly consistently had a lower chance of testing positive for COVID-19. But they obviously were not immune and if they did get hospitalized, they had worse clinical outcomes.
Really wish more normal doctors would study nicotine.
A clear and well-documented Community Note has been added to a deceptive post from @WHO_Europe. It is past time for WHO to clean up its act and tell the truth about relative risk. Stop conflating all tobacco and nicotine products as the same when the reality is so profoundly different.
@AJFCPassalacqua@NoLongerBennett The decision means Texas can require businesses to pay back taxes. Only one company (or a few companies) were paying the taxes out of an abundance of caution.
An unfortunate correction on the Texas nicotine pouch tax:
Texas' tobacco products tax of $1.22/oz, which now applies to nicotine pouches, comes with a minimum tax of $1.46, or 1.2 ounces.
As a result, Texas now taxes a can of nicotine pouches more than a pack of cigarettes.
This tax is probably about 25 cents on a can of ZYN.
One interesting claim remains on remand: Does it violate the Texas Constitution for the Comptroller to tax nicotine pouches as a “tobacco product” but not nicotine replacement therapies?
