I created this account because I wanted to find folks to discuss comics with. I ended up devoting most my time on here to networking shelter cats in need.
“If my mind came under attack, let’s just say if it already has come under attack, would it be possible to create an emergency personality as a defense? A back-up human operating system?”

🆘🆘 ELOISE (ID 255390), 4 YO, MALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as a stray on 5/26/2026. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿
➡️TBD 6/20/26
➡️ MEDICAL PRIORITY – NEEDS MORE CARE AND ATTENTION THAN THE SHELTER CAN PROVIDE – 😱😱😱
➡️ 🆘🆘 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱
➡️ 24 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT
➡️ ELOISE IS ON THE EPL FOR MEDICAL REASONS -Eloise has a fracture at the olecranon process of his right elbow. He has been persistently painful and lame on that limb since arrival, despite rest and pain meds. Eloise would benefit from a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon to discuss options for recovery. Behaviorally, Eloise can get overstimulated and did bite someone when they touched near his fractured elbow. This evaluation/diagnosis means that ELOISE will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥
A volunteer writes: Eloise can stretch, he can twirl, he can ask for pets and he can see perfectly upside down. He can do almost anything now that he's healing and getting his confidence back. Seen limping on his own with a wound outside, Eloise was brought to us to help him get sorted and started on his next step. He introduced himself like he was in a rush to show me everything he knows how to do at the same time while simultaneously seeming bored with it. Eloise plays with just as much whimsy, stacking his toys between his paws while reaching for more. This doesn't quite sum him up, however, as Eloise knows there's more to life than his condo, just like he knows he can do almost anything. There's one pretty big thing he's missing and we think it just might be you. What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy! I might need time to decompress in my new home - but cheek scratches and dry treats are my love language and how we will build our bond! Eloise appreciates attention and specifically head and cheek pets but appears somewhat fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

🆘🆘 WINTER (ID 250119), 6 YO, FEMALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an aco - owner surrender on 3/20/2026, with the surrender reason stated as animal behavior - aggressive towards people. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿
🆘🆘 UPDATE – UPDATE – POOR WINTER WAS OFF EPL DUE TO BITING INCIDENT – IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO THE EPL ON 6/18/26 –SECOND TIME RETURNED TO EPL – WINTER IS ABSOLUTELY LIVING ON BORROWED TIME NOW – BEYOND URGENT – LET’S HELP HER GET SAFE🆘🆘

➡️🆘🆘 15TH Chance on Emergency Placement List – 15 TIMES IS ALMOST UNPRECEDENTED –VERY, VERY RARELY DO YOU SEE IT THIS HIGH - TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR WINTER – SHELTER IS AT CAPACITY - ALL HANDS ON DECK - NOW IS THE TIME TO ACT/HELP WINTER - HIGHEST EU/SILENT KILL RISK- VERY LIKELY LAST CALL🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱
➡️ 91 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT
➡️ WINTER IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. She has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥
In shelter care, Winter has presented with distance increasing fear-based behaviors before progressing/improving through work with behavior staff. She has a history of a fear-based behavior incident that occurred in her previous home, which should be discussed with an adoption counsellor and taken into account when considering adopting Winter. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, she will likely require allowing her to lead interactions, and providing her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. A volunteer writes: Please see Winter with any questions, comments, and concerns regarding scheduling, policy, and programming. She's been here since March but that's not why she's been fast tracked to upper management. It's her skills! For consideration and approval, Winter utilizes a rigorous process that only she understands and because task delegation hasn't been a priority (please don't tell her I said that) we've been left trying to parse out the details. Winter knows who she is and we celebrate her confident stride, but just because she's a picture of self assuredness and leadership, doesn't mean shelter life has been exactly easy for her. We know Winter likes to be the one to make decisions but the Care Center doesn't always have a lot of opportunities for that. We don't know that much about her life before, but Winter isn't a fan of other cats and is hoping her next role will be supervising a family.❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I have lived with cats in my previous home. I am looking for a home with a patient person. I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace. I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you. A volunteer writes: Eleven stretched himself out for a nap in a position I can't quite describe except to say it looked uncomfortable, but that's a cat for you. I hoped Eleven would be ok with some pets and treats, so I quietly opened the door only for him to tell me that he absolutely wasn't ok with that. A fluffy cheeked gentleman with brilliant and inquiring eyes, he regarded me from the top of his den and said in no uncertain terms that petting and playtime were off the table. Fair as Eleven came to us from a home with many other cats and we don't know much about his life before, but we know he isn't so sure about the shelter. He'd love a little chance to become the cat he's meant to and hopes you'll offer him that. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

Poe is a tiny cream-and-white sweetheart with a pink heart-shaped nose, delicate little freckles, and the gentlest soul you could imagine. 🤍✨ Right now, the world feels a bit too big for this sensitive boy, so he spends most of his time tucked safely inside his cozy cat den. But his caretakers have caught glimpses of his curiosity - especially when treats are involved. He'll cautiously peek out, investigate his snack offerings, and then scamper back to safety like the tiny, brave creature he is. Poe does not currently feel comfortable with petting or handling, and he'll need a patient, understanding home willing to let him warm up on his own timeline. In his previous home, he lived peacefully with other cats, and in shelter he has been respectful and tolerant of his feline sibling's space. This little guy may never be the life of the party, but for someone who appreciates shy, tender-hearted cats, Poe's quiet trust will feel incredibly special. 🐾❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻

What my friends at ACC say about me: My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet! I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home. Harlow tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. We recommend this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Due to the behavior shown, he may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻
