Neuroscience Grad at MIT. I want to know what computations individual neurons perform to go from inputs to outputs in a functional, cell type specific manner.
@MoneyDebussy @PessoaBrain but it’s still hard to overcome my inhibitions and post comments or questions. If anyone has any guidance on how to not be a fly on the wall, when and where it’s appropriate to jump in, and how to overcome inhibitions to do so that would be very helpful!
@MoneyDebussy @PessoaBrain I’ve struggled with this a lot to, and I’m almost 6 years of neuro out from grad school. Neurotwitter is very understanding, especially if you phrase things as questions and sound presumptuous and I’ve had a number of overwhelmingly positive experiences.
@PessoaBrain@MattMattoni I’ll get to mastodon eventually but I’ll do it on my own time. If you can give me reasons why it’s better besides “that’s where the PIs are” that would hurry me along!
@PessoaBrain@MattMattoni To be fair this would be hard to differentiate from a new algorithm failing me, except that I know good people have left. to be honest it means I spend a bit less time on twitter which probably isn’t the worst thing.

@neurograce “show me only the 4 most important sub panels for each figure” or “I want to see as few figures as possible, group sub-panels at the highest level in the hierarchy” or I want to see as many figures as possible, group at the lowest level possible”
@neurograce and once we move away from the traditional conception of figures for designed for journals that were printed, we can imagine options where sub-panels are nested and prioritized by the authors and readers can choose their preferred viewing option
