BREAKING:

Washington Capital have issued a statement on Ovechkin participating in a propaganda video with Sergei Lavrov and Margarita Simonyan which defends Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

The team says Ovechkin is a Russian citizen who was asked to participate in a video campaign and that he’a the longest-tenured athlete in Washington.

Apparently his long tenure means that it’s ok that hundreds of thousands Ukrainians have been killed…

The NFL was asked to comment on Ovechkin’s video but deferred to the Washington Capitals.
