I'll explain. The pool is emblematic of everything wrong with Trump. Nobody cared about this until Trump started posted constantly about his glorious reflecting pool, and what a joke Biden and Obama were for their pool. It became one of his little weird obsessions, complete with the usual lying and AI generated nonsense. His followers then picked it up, because they can't think for themselves. It's a pattern that happens again and again. The reflecting pool, the ballroom, the arch, his name on the Kennedy Center. That he then completely fucked it up is also typical. Yes, the shameful loss in Iran is far more important, but they are the same basic issue. He makes terrible decisions, acts like he's a manly genius, obsesses over stupid shit—and screws it all up.
