1942 (Capcom, 1984)
1942 is the 1984 Capcom vertical shooter that helped define the early shoot-’em-up genre with its fast pace, power-up system, and intense WWII-themed action. Players pilot a Lockheed P-38 Lightning fighter plane through waves of enemy aircraft and ground targets across multiple stages set over the Pacific theater. The goal is simple but demanding: survive long enough to reach and destroy the enemy’s massive battleship at the end of each area.
The game introduced the now-classic “POW” power-up that upgrades your firepower when collected, along with limited-use super attacks that clear the screen of enemies. Its difficulty ramps up quickly with dense bullet patterns and aggressive enemy formations, forcing players to weave through tight gaps while managing their limited lives. Bright, colourful sprites and a memorable chiptune soundtrack gave it huge arcade appeal and helped establish Capcom as a major force in the shooter space.

Under the new EFL Championship SCR rules a club can only spend 85% of revenue on squad costs. This is a slightly crude (as uses all wages and excludes player sales) indicator of how much work is to be done as takes wages and amortisation as % of revenue
