Aberfan: 58 years that don't lessen the loss. On 21st October 1966, a coal tip collapsed, killing 116 children and 28 adults. Nobody lost their job, and money fundraised for the families was raided to clear the tip. We mourn the lives lost, and the price our valleys paid for coal
President Carles Puigdemont, shouts "Long live a free Catalonia!" as he climbs onto a stage in Barcelona to address a huge crowd. He returns to take part in a vote in Catalonia's parliament to elect a new President but ERC probably betrays the indy cause.
Hey David, hope you're well, I come in peace.
I'm the product of an exclusively white working class background, white friends, white teachers, white coaches and a passion for my country displayed most recently following the England team, with flag, proudly in Germany. My life experience has been until 20 when I moved to London to play for Crystal Palace, a white working class one.
But people look at me as a black man because of my visible characteristics.
On here, I get called coon, nigger, hang myself, go home. 4 convictions for racial abuse towards me, and today spent 3 hours on the phone to lawyers as I'm suing two separate individuals for libel. They'll be numbers 6 and 7 over the years, all have settled before court.
So I am a product, literally of "both sides" of a racial divide that is not of my making, of which I've talked about on here for 16 years, including this week calling for a national town hall series of reconciliation debates to find out what Britain wants.
I don't know what more I can do? Sit and watch a black carer have his car torched? A Muslim bus driver spat at? Trying to be open about immigration? I am literally using my platform to both not be intimidated by people with some heinous and disturbing content on their feed, while simultaneously offering anyone with mental health issues my email address, regardless of race or politics. Isn't that the definition of middle ground?
If someone calls me a nigger, I'll respond. And if you wouldn't, you're either a liar or don't understand how upsetting it is.
If the most extreme far right politician wants to talk and find solutions for anything, I'll talk to them. But they don't want to talk, they want to deny me my nationality, belittle my lived experience as "moaning" and want to rub people out of their homes and places of worship given a chance.
I respect you because you've never resorted to insults, I respect anyone who made it to pro level in any sport and as a sports broadcaster too.
But suggesting being partisan or being played simply isn't fair nor the truth. There hasn't been a decade on my life that I haven't been called a nigger, coon or having my nationality questioned. Something you never have or will have to conjure with.
Stay well.
Stan Collymore.
Lindsay Whittle, Caerphilly Plaid Group Leader, calls on the council leader Sean Morgan to end the air of secrecy and make a public statement on the continuing absence (8 months plus)from work of the authority’s chief executive.
When you vote tomorrow, remember Wales is paying for the England-only HS2 project.
Remember both Labour and the Tories don't think Wales should get the £4bn we're owed
For a strong voice that will demand fairness for Wales, vote Plaid Cymru tomorrow
Labour MSs just voted against Plaid Cymru's motion to abolish the role of Secretary of State for Wales - despite it being used to undermine devolution
When it comes down to it, they'll always put party before country
Plaid Cymru will always put Wales' best interests first. 🏴
Know your place, Wales 🤔. Labour doesn't trust us - or the Welsh Government - to do this stuff ourselves. Because Westminster is doing *so well* with .... court backlogs, overcrowded prisons, cuts to policing. Why on earth would Wales want to make life better for their citizens?
Trump in 2016: “She shouldn’t be allowed to run...If she wins, it would create an unprecedented constitutional crisis. In that situation, we could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and, ultimately, a criminal trial. It would grind government to a halt.”
