@EricMGarcia Wrong answers only: 1. Trying to find out if Central Jersey exists and what it’s bounds are. 2. Attending a New Jersey Nets game. 3. Stuck in “Bridgegate” traffic. 4. Convincing either Morristown, NJ or Morrestown, NJ to change their name to end the confusion between the two.
@reset_by_peer Bernie’s biggest hurdle was the Dem Prez Primaries, that was due in part to partisan Dem primary voters saying Bernie isn’t a real Democrat, he’s not a team player. AOC is working to avoid that hurdle. It’s fine to be frustrated by it, but she needs the political capital.
@ZaidJilani Shes making efforts to not rock the boat with partisan Dem voters in the party to broaden her appeal to help her win the Democratic presidential primary. It’s mostly been working. Libs like her now! Defending Platner, esp now, before the primary- kills her with the BlueSky crowd
@JayTC53 It’s a top 2 primary. She’s basically guaranteed to be within the top 2. It’s a question of whether or not Pratt can clinch 2nd place and make it to November.
@LinkofSunshine@nikicaga Steyer being a billionaire is helpful right now, short term, but people having billions of dollars (including Steyer) is bad, medium term, but Steyer using his billions to make redistribution popular and viable is good long term, but it’s bad that it has come to this being needed
@FiservForher@noggin_chomper@k1rallik Rue is a young desperate, former addict/drug runner with extreme debt and enemies- she IS shortsighted. Alamo is seedy, but basically works on “If you bring me value and respect, I’ll value and respect you”- it’s dirty but fair, and she can understand and work with that.
@FiservForher@noggin_chomper@k1rallik The first attempt (shooting over her head) was to establish that she could trust him to do what he said he would. The second attempt (the polo stick) was a threat because he wanted to make sure that he could trust her. Rue was the one who 1st broke trust between them.
@FiservForher@noggin_chomper@k1rallik Rue & Alamo are people w/o fathers trying to find the American Dream- which has never been easy esp for black ppl. Christianity & race establishes basic initial mutual trust, but from actions you build or break trust. Alamo lost trust that Rue wouldn’t cause more problems for him
@carolinedowney_ The finale had lots of various themes including that capitalists Christians are wicked/untrustworthy, women exploiting other women can bring freedom, and God doesn’t save even if you are a faithful believer.
@noggin_chomper@k1rallik She did. Looking at all of Rue’s relationships- Alamo was one of the people who treated her fairly. Hes religious so he’s easier to trust, they’re both black & has similar goals, and he generally tries to protect things valuable to him- she didn’t realize that he didn’t need her.
@EricMGarcia@JohnchoVilla If Steve Kerr can reach the playoffs and win a round with Steph with Golden State, based on his politics there is a path for him to reach that status. If he ran for office at any level he would have very favorable odds.
@ZaidJilani It’s not a scandal, some might consider it a gaffe- but his vote in favor of the Laken Riley Act would be a challenge he’d have to deal with if he were to take part in the 2028 Democratic presidential primary.
@TonerousHyus@lenticularwind No it doesn’t. Because hitting is short term and temporary. You know the hitting will stop and the pain will go away. The punishment of spanking ends. Removing privileges can literally be indefinite, arguably forever. Spanking is a lazy person’s punishment.
@justforfun1328@TonerousHyus@lenticularwind An adult hitting a kid for them hitting a peer just teaches them “I shouldn’t hit someone because someone bigger will hit me.” It doesn’t teach them why hitting someone is bad for society. It is a short term, stupid punishment. It doesn’t build thinking for a high trust society.
