How did we miss this?!? Did you know that TNT’S MONSTERVISION premiered on June 29th, 1991?!? A full 35 years ago!
The show underwent multiple changes throughout its more than nine years. Initially, the program (which acted as a marathon of older horror, science fiction, or fantasy films) revolved around a mysterious claymation-style moon character who was featured in the bumpers alongside a creepy-sounding disembodied voice, who served as the narrator for the show and its promos.
It wasn’t until around 1996 when the man himself Joe Bob Briggs took over as host!
Saturday night on MeTV, the Sven Squad hands you the tale of a young man whose hand goes rogue- and starts killing people! It’s “Idle Hands”- and watch for a special segment showing the Squad and I at C2E2 this year! Tune in 8 pm eastern/pacific, 7 central time!
Come get crazy with us tonight as we celebrate Walpurgisnacht one week early. We don't just do Witches Night, we do Witches WEEK. That's how much @kinky_horror loves witches, and that's how much I love KILLING witches! 9 Eastern/6 Pacific on @Shudder.
If you intend to celebrate Walpurgisnacht with me on April 24, you will study this three-page document intensely. I have failed five times to get Walpurgisnacht adopted as an American holiday, but I feel like THIS IS THE YEAR. Joe Bob's Wicked Witchy Wingding, only on @Shudder.
I canceled Shudder after the latest price hike. After years you would think they would offer a promo to keep me but nooo. I did resubscribe last night to watch the final episode and will cancel post binging the latest season. Shudder may be done but The Drive in Will Never Die.
@FreddyInSpace Well said. I've always been into horror but stayed in my lane. JBB showed movies I would have passed up on but turned out to like them. The drive in will never die.
For 8 years, The Last Drive-In has introduced countless horror fans to many films they had probably never seen, dispensed an endless wealth of deep dive knowledge, and brought fans together like nothing else I've seen over the years. All beautiful things. Long live the Drive-In.
Thank you @kinky_horror, @therealjoebob, @TheMutantFam for Friday night thrills, meet and greets and the wonderful community that is the #mutantfam. I'll follow you guys to the next journey. The drive in will never die ❤️
Shudder has announced that tonight's episode of THE LAST DRIVE-IN will be the SERIES FINALE.
But...
Four all-new specials for The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs will debut quarterly through the end of 2026.
I desperately want us to get back to a place where liking or disliking a movie means really nothing more than you liked or disliked that movie. Every single movie being positioned as the next battle in a real-world political, social or cultural war is not healthy for anyone.
After scaring up $8 million in theaters, the canine-led GOOD BOY will begin streaming November 21 exclusively on Shudder.
The unique horror movie tells a haunted house tale from the perspective of Indy, a very good boy. 🐶
Warner Bros. has officially announced a new installment in the GREMLINS franchise, with Steven Spielberg producing and Chris Columbus directing.
Gizmo will return to theaters November 19, 2027.
