This is the perfume that is applied to the Ka’abah five times daily. The perfuming of the Ka’abah is a long-standing Islamic tradition. The practice dates back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the early Muslim community. It was customary to honor the Ka’abah by cleaning it and perfuming it with pleasant fragrances, particularly oud, musk and rose water. This was done as a form of respect and devotion to the sacred House of Allah.
After the Prophet (PBUH), the Rightly Guided Caliphs maintained the practice. Today, the ritual is organized by the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.

In fairness, we should not expect a person, especially someone as well educated as Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, to hold on to opinions and views formed over 20 years ago. A lot has changed within that period, society has evolved, realities have shifted and knowledge has expanded. Yet, some people still expect others to remain rigid-minded individuals, someone who insists on clinging to ideas, methods and ways of thinking from two or three decades ago and forcing them on today’s world. That is bad.
If education, science and technology had not been continuously updated in line with global developments, the world would never have achieved the progress we see today, let alone human beings themselves. Growth is a product of learning, exposure and the willingness to reassess old positions.
Prof. Pantami is absolutely right to change his opinions about politics and life, especially when his continuous pursuit of education and knowledge has shown him better and more informed paths than those he previously held.
We should know that changing opinions and views in the face of deeper understanding is not a weakness, it is a mark of wisdom and intellectual maturity.
So it is Pantami for Gombe 2027.
