@SophiaLeeHyun I've been a writer since '84, and precision is paramount. For years, all I ever used was this reference book with my brain & fingers. But as I've aged, I've also begun using Grammarly to check final drafts. It's surprising how much I miss.
@KristaNewkirk@RepPeteAguilar@UofRedlands I went to Redlands on the BEOG, more or less the predecessor of the Pell Grant. BEOG, plus the UofR’s own grant program, have changed my life beyond my imagining. Thank you.
@EvanMcMullin An outstanding option is Borgen from Denmark - which has a new season this year after a 9 year hiatus. And the great Norwegian series Occupied.
For a brief glimpse of church life deep in the rural South circa 1950, consider reading this blog entry. I've posted an essay written by my late father about his first pastorate in Cloudy, Oklahoma. https://t.co/jb9KIG7JVy
@LexDeWeese Well said. I often hear "I want to go viral." But that's not how it works. I counsel my clients to strive first for consistent competence, and then for excellence: both are managed achievements. The magic, if it chooses to arrive, is never a managed outcome.
@Birdyword In 1985 I worked for a large public corporation in Los Angeles. Smoking wasn’t permitted in the building. No one’s office had a bar. People director and above had dedicated secretaries. Inboxes were filled with huge accordions of computer printouts. AIDS was terrifying.
@SophiaLeeHyun For years I’ve heard increasingly strident demands for shorter and shorter copy. “People don’t read,” they say. After some decades writing for business I believe the truth is, “people don’t read crap.” We must tell better stories.
