I am not a Christian Nationalist, but I almost could be. While I want Christian ideas and Christian voices prominent in the public square, and I celebrate that America was founded on many Christian ideas, I have a number of concerns with the Christian Nationalist vision. - Was a brown-skinned, middle-eastern, undocumented immigrant
- Was outraged at systemic injustice
- Elevated women
- Defied the patriarchy
- Eschewed religious power dynamics
- Gave healthcare to those who couldn't afford it

... be like Jesus.

A) While some are true, some of those are a s-t-r-e-t-c-h of gospel narratives
B) Some are DESCRIPTIVE, not PRESCRIPTIVE
C) You can also make a (much less popular) list like this from the gospels...

Jesus...

- Fought for a traditional definition of marriage
- Opposed sex outside heterosexual marriage
- Loved his country
- Defied cultural elites
- Chose 12 *men* to lead the church
- Affirmed gender is defined by biology
- Fought for the infallibility of the Bible
- Said people who didn't believe in him didn't know God
- Was part of a traditional family
- His followers approved the righteousness of military service

... be like Jesus.

Everybody wants to pick and choose aspects of Jesus to make him the mascot of their personal cause. But...

1) Jesus is a Lord, not a mascot. Jesus does not submit himself to our causes. Our causes must submit themselves to Jesus.

2) This is exactly what the 10 commandments forbid in "taking the Lord's name in vain." To put God's name on your flawed cause = to "take the Lord's name in vain."
