“Hello, my most loyal citizens.” 👑When a 3rd grade teacher asks you to be a pretend dictator for their government simulation, you say ABSOLUTELY! What they don’t know: you’re going OFF SCRIPT. 🤣
“That is my final decision!”

🎄✨ Gingerbell Grider here! December was full of fun & excitement @BannekerPanther ! 🎉 Now it’s time for family, friends & Winter Break adventures! ❄️❤️ #WinterBreak#HappyHolidays
It’s been a totally surreal 7 year run.
5 Super Bowl trips, 3 Rings, played in the Conference Championship game every single year.
Everything caught up with them this year & they just didn’t have it.
No shame in that, just is what it is.
Now we just pray Patrick is OK.
Best strategy for kids who love to argue...use questions rather than statements. It is hard to argue a question. "You can't stand there!" Instead, where are you supposed to be right now?" Statements are their fuel, questions are their kryptonite! #teachers#TeachingStrategies
Before SEL and belonging training: chaos, sarcasm, and finger-pointing (literally). After? Teachers realized they were already doing most of it, but now they name it, own it, and do it with intention. Turns out, saying “hello” and smiling actually works.
Something to remember before the kids get here.
They are NOT:
SPED kids
EIP kids
RTI kids
504 kids
"Those" kids
Low kids
"That side of town" kids
_____ kids
Kids are kids.
Kids are learners, not labels.
Believe in & challenge ALL kids.
No excuses.
Otherwise, shame on us.
Top 7 Tips for Managing Students:
1. We can’t control other people, only how you respond to other people.
2. Stay personally connected to students without taking personally what they do or say.
3. Discomfort is the appetizer for growth. You can’t grow without discomfort.
4. We need to listen to students without expectations.
5. Every day is a new day. Don’t hold grudges.
6. Behaviors are not the problems, they are the solutions kids choose to their problems.
7. I have to look at myself for the role I may have played in the situation.

The system often hands us a narrative: these kids are damaged goods.
And when that’s the frame, it’s easy—even natural—to focus on what’s “wrong.”
But great educators don’t settle for the story they’re handed.
They rise above it and rewrite it.
Every teacher deserves a leader who boldly declares belief in them—no excuses, no hiding behind trauma or context. While systems expand the excuses menu, real leaders rise and say: “I chose YOU. I believe in YOU. Let’s go.”

Teachers are quick to credit students for every bump in achievement, but let’s be real: that growth didn’t happen by accident. It happened because of your planning, your consistency, your belief.
Don’t downplay it. You’re the difference-maker.
