The use of AI is very topical right now in
Poker. On the latest show, we asked @JenShahade about originality and if she feels the same resistance to repeating herself as one of her creative heroes, avant garde artist Marcel Duchamp.

The one silly rebuttal that I consistently keep seeing is that somehow this is related to us not being able to handle the load, so we are trying to shape this to somehow give us an advantage. This is complete nonsense. We can play just as long now as we ever could, we choose not to because we’re more educated than we used to be. There’s always gonna be a group of people that hate change, but poker isn’t a seedy, back-room game anymore. Millions of people enjoy it as a form of entertainment and the industry needs to adjust.
Third place in the North American Poker Tour Main Event!
Thanks to all of you for the amazing live and online rail, which filled me with so much joy and gratitude for this game and community. 💋
This is what we need!!!! True honest, heartwarming collaboration between professionals. I wanna applaud this and I have long wanted to produce worthwhile content. I think I might finally actually start.
This is where I’d direct some content creation energy - this free bar poker league. Highlight the casual nature of the game, without all the technical lingo, in a familiar environment that is risk free. Helps total beginners to be comfortable -
I’ve commentated this final table before at Borgata and it is a great group of people.
If you love poker or care about poker’s future at all..
I need you to take ten minutes and watch this video and tell everyone.
The @WPT, @WSOP, @PokerGO, @PokerNews, @pokerorg, and @ClubWPT are in a slow decline
They need your help…
A great point made by @KatieStonePoker about making poker players play late is that it kills the chance of them having free time to spend money on property. It’s gotta be better for the host casino if the average poker player is out of the tournament at 6/7pm and can gamble, shop, have dinner, etc.
“Done by Dinner”
I’d love for an operator to try it out. Cap the poker play to 8 hours/day. Shift the focus of poker tournament marketing over to the experience the players have while on property, rather than getting x amount of tournament levels in each day
Why?
Instead of limiting a player/customer/diner to off-hours activities, which may or may not be on-site, because they have been playing a poker tournament for 12-14 hours, why not give them an opportunity to enjoy the host property?
If host locations knew that each player an event or tour was bringing into the property, would have 5-6 more waking hours available to gamble, shop and dine, it could be an attractive equation for them
Casinos HATE poker (in general) because poker does not drive a significant source of revenue, yet it requires a significant amount of work
If each body that walked through the casino door as a result of a poker tournament, was worth more than it is now as a customer to the host location, perhaps conditions would get better for poker and it’s organizers
In addition, people who have 9-5 jobs may be better able to plan for and play poker, when they know they are capped at 8 hours in the day
Not trying to incentivize a whole lot of “sick days” in order to play poker 🫣😆 but people with day jobs and other responsibilities may have an easier time adapting to this niche captivity of a world we call the poker industry, if the structure of the days where a little different

When I started playing poker 20 years ago, it was hard to make friends and I was told by a prominent female player at the time, that “No one would help me” improve in poker. I’m happy to say that’s not the case anymore, and being able to help bring together women who love poker is a special mission that’s very personal to me. This game has given me so much, and it’s my honor to give back! Please join us for some good times with amazing food ❤️
Finding and making friends in poker can make or break a player’s experience. I’m so happy for the women in Houston who’s poker experience starts out with something like this 😍 and grateful for an operator who gets it 🙏
