@PlsWatchGundam That combined with the relatively grounded feel of the story and fewer mutant level villains add to the cinematic feeling imo. Even if Kojima was pidgeonholed, he definitely took a lot of liberties with every game after feeling closer to a superhero movie than an action/drama.

@PlsWatchGundam Replaying mgs1 this year and realizing that it’s a much better game narratively than mgs2 was a gut punch. Generally, Blaustein doesn’t get enough credit for how much he shaped the series with the work he did (codec, on-site procurement, etc).
