@ICEgov@ICEgov Remember when the Irish, fleeing famine in their home co untry arrived in the US as redugees only to be treated with hostility and violence by American nativists...
@leekratzer The prompt was 'Donald Trump emitting beams of light from his body while floating Christ-like in the sky above Al Asqa Mosque'. I was a little dissapointed by the results tbh
@JordanBloch @oppidanscout @briebriejoy Sir, you're thinking of Mel Gibson's movie 'The Patriot' and a.) it was the other way round and b.) it didn't happen. The Nazis did it once, though, as collective punishment on the French resistance https://t.co/33UiWOcHdJ
@leekratzer Not sure what you're getting at? Semitic people have existed for thousands of years, it's a linguistic group that encompasses Hebrew and Arabic, rather than a determiner of biological 'racial' characteristics (dates back to "Shem", the son of the Biblical Noah FYI)...
@leekratzer Dividing people into Ethnolinguistic groups is a very outmoded concept now. Slavs aren't a different 'race' from anglo saxons, nor are Celts - they just spoke a shared group of launguages. Most people would agree these days that they are all just different types of white people.
@leekratzer ...and hatred of Jews specifically throughout the 20th and most of the 21st century, where it has been widespread - from all areas of the political / religious spectrum.
@leekratzer ...Jews and Arabs are considered the descendants of Shem. In discussions regarding the current conflict, people often point to this as a sort of 'gotcha' that technically, using that definition, antisemitism applies to both Jews and Arabs, and hence also Palestinians...
