PSP: Active Controls has finished testing the first component of its next-generation superTADPOLE engine! DART is an IPA-GOx torch igniter that will enable rapid testing of superTADPOLE, and by extension TOAD.

We're very excited to be one step closer in TOAD's journey, and are proud to see the final vehicle coming together piece by piece.

Check out PSP: Active Controls’ spicyyy new igniter. This IPA/GOx torch has been designed and is being tested to interface directly with our upcoming lander vehicle, TOAD.

The DART igniter went from concept to testing in just 3 months, and the team is dedicated to moving faster than ever. Keep an eye out for campaign results after spring break!

Yesterday, PSP's Active Controls team successfully fired their TADPOLE calorimeter engine for the first two times, demonstrating successful burn durations up to 10 seconds. This was the culmination of 2 years of work. We'd like to thank Elementum3D for our chamber, Zucrow Labs, Bechtel Innovation Design Center, Purdue AAE, ME, and ECE departments for their tireless support. This would not have been possible without our sponsors and the great efforts of our members. This is just the beginning, we will continue to push our burn duration and throttle before the end of the semester, so stay tuned!
