As a kindergartener, our Founder, Dan, was asked what he wanted to be when he grew up.

According to a primary source document written in his own pen, his aspiration was a misspelling of the word Chiropractor — which was his father’s profession.

Upon reaching the ripe old age of 10 and realizing he could do things other than those which had been modeled to him by his parents, Dan reframed his vision, now focusing it in on the notion of becoming an inventor.

It was deeply disappointing when he realized years later that inventor — like explorer — had seemingly faded into history as a former career path preserved in a bygone era.

The day #Groov submitted its initial patent application, Dan realized something. He realized that Groov — this system for bridging the gap between the mass-produced shoes we buy and the individual needs of our uniquely-shaped feet — hadn’t existed before.

It had to be invented. The Groov team wants to give a big shoutout to Dan for trusting his inner child enough to let us break things and build them back batter. Here’s to watching the future of footwear emerge, as we build it.
