I'm no longer a sports columnist for Maidenhead Advertiser. But I still have views on local sport and will still express them. I still wear a tweed jacket & cap
#FACup: Great news for Maidenhead United, on the box again. Bumper crowd and tv money = £100,000+ payday for Magpies even if they lose. Another £36,000 if they win. @MUFCYorkRoad
Travel chaos on the railways today after power failure at #Paddington overnight. There's a lot of frustrated and confused commuters at #Maidenhead station at the moment. The pouring rain isn't helping the mood either. @MaidenheadAds
Congrats to @WargraveCc and @datchetcc who have enjoyed fine campaigns. Disappointed @sloughcc narrowly missed title. Subject to confirmation, unluckiest local team is @TwyfordCricket who missed promotion in Berks League after finishing on same no. of pts as Stratfield (28.35pts)
Cricket round-up: Triple promotion for @WargraveCc + who else went up and down in the Home Counties, Thames Valley, Chilterns and Berkshire leagues. https://t.co/ei7CtG2aIr
Two important matches coming up for @MUFCYorRoad and Alan Devonshire. They'll want at least three points and indications that the squad is developing. I can see Dev making changes to the squad sooner rater than later if things don't change. He won't sit idly by.
#PODCAST: SportsTalk is back after our summer break. @DavidLee_BM and I discuss @MUFCYorkRoad plus our other football teams, and rugby, swimming and rowing. https://t.co/KicfrGgcau
@MUFCYorkRoad 1-3 @GatesheadFC. That was all very disappointing for the Magpies. They weren't terrible and could easily have been level or even ahead at half-time. But they looked hesitant at the back and the Heed were quick to pounce.
Will be an interested on-looker for today's match at York Road. Looking forward to seeing Ryan Bird in action and whether he gets the service he needs. Good luck to the Magpies. @MUFCYorkRoad@GatesheadFC
Congrats to Derek Sweetman and @holyportfc. The perfect start to the season and a winning start for 'Sweets' on his return to the helm. The result is a long was from a disaster for @MarcusRicco77, but not what @FHFC1907 would have wanted ahead of a tough @HellenicLeague campaign
Great chance this for either @holyportfc and @FHFC1907 to bag some early silverware a few days ahead of the new league campaign. For the losers, at least it's a useful competitive run out. But why play it at Oxford? Bonkers.
Call me a pessimist but I wouldn't be surprised if there is a parting of the ways again In a few months because fundamentally nothing has changed. https://t.co/EJJKNqWb8b
